Today,s the day...

Well, today's my sons 18th birthday. I opened the door to his room before leaving for work and said "Happy Birthday". I have a feeling we won't be speaking much for a while.

Enough about that, I don't want to start my day on a down note.

Well, yesterday it got up to 87 degrees out, and today, we're supposed to have a high in the low 40's. New England Weather.

32 days till vacation, and I just can't wait. It'll be great to see our friends Mike and Jeralyn again. We're planning on a lot of fun, and the good news is, when we get back from this cruise, we get an extra day off for Memorial Day!

I think often of the people I used to work with at the big T (Torrington Company).
Some that I miss greatly:

Curt Rice, Shiloh Plant, Rutherfordton, NC. The nicest, biggest hearted teddybear of a guy I've ever EVER met. I love Curt like a brother (even though he did buy me some of those awful "pickled peaches"), and we've spent quite a bit of time together working on his network in the plant. Curt taught me what "over yonder" means, and how to say "y'all", and the differences between "y'all" and "y'all-all". I'm still trying to figure out what "fixin to" means, as in "I'm fixin to get lunch soon". I really miss Curt, even though we email back and forth still.

Kent Herrington, formerly of the Pulaski Plant, Pulaski TN. An engineer that played an IT person on tv (or in the plant), who has one of the best sense of humors I've ever met. I call him "Bubba", and he knows how much I respect him (I hope he does). I'll never forget how funny it was when finding out one of the network passwords there was "867-5309", after the Tommy Tune song. I'd get that damn song in my head and couldn't get it out (starting now again... grrrrrr!) I actually have a picture of Kent and I, sitting on the floor of the server room in Pulaski, at 2am during a big network upgrade.. one of a few all-nighters we've pulled together. When the poop hit the fan during an upgrade at another plant, Kent was the first to offer to help, remotely from his office on a Sunday, to help us recreate the security settings for over a hundred people. Pulaski is the home of the best Barbeque I've ever had (The Hickory House, Pulaski, TN). Oh, BTW, "barbeque" is a noun down south, and it's an adjective up north. Kent taught me that.

Tim Chavis, Tyger River Plant, Union, SC. Tim is one of the good guys. I can't understand how he gets away with calling all the women that work in the plant "darlin'! (maybe I'm just envious)
We've done some crazy things together (no, I won't tell you here) and I always have a great time with him. By the way, what is the statute of limitations in South Carolina?
All I have to say is "Hey Tim, remember Cheeta's?" *LOL*

More on this later, as there's many people I miss.

Well, enough for today... I'll try to remember to post tomorrow.

Till the next wave....
