Well it's a GORGEOUS morning out today, bright sunshine, temps in the 60's, going up to around 80 today. Big shocker in work yesterday, my boss got laid off! In another of life's ironies, they hired what would have been HIS boss the same day! Now here's a guy, that between wife and himself, have 7 kids, and just built a brand new house (moved in last week), hasn't made the first payment yet and WHAM. Laid off. I'll just say it was incredibly unfair, and totally unnecessary. There seems to be many thoughts as to why this would have happened, but none of them really matter. I just hope the union fights and gets either his job back, or another job for him. I'd like to welcome Terri, a new reader from the West Coast here, and also a Happy Birthday to her! Terri asked in the comments yesterday where I'm located, and you can see by reading my profile at left, or I can just tell you I'm in Bristol, CT. Halfway between Boston and NYC, the home of ESPN, and the Eastern Regional Little League complex (Little League headquarters for the East Coast). Connecticut has the most profitable casino in the world (Foxwoods), and the new home of Bob Ballard's undersea research operations (the man who found the Titanic wreck, formerly of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts). Been here my whole life, with no plans on leaving (but for week long vacations that is!) *S*. Now, for those of you that haven't been to New England (of which Connecticut is a part), if you don't like the weather, just wait a bit and it'll surely change for you! Tomorrow, there may or may not be a blog, depending on how early I get up. I'll be out of work tomorrow taking my dad to the hospital for his second cancer surgery. Should be a minor one this time, and hopefully he'll be home in a couple of days. I'm giving a lunchtime class today for our Medical Records department on Microsoft Outlook, and I've never seen people more excited before. You'd think I was handing out free diamond jewelry! *L* (checking my emails to see if I said that) Doing the same again on Thursday for another of the locations I take care of. And now, the news not fit to print: I've always wondered what kind of person would buy a wedding ring at Wal-Mart (I see advertisements and am totally appalled). Maybe rednecks that have no access to a normal jewelry store? Well, taken one step further, these people got MARRIED in Wal-Mart! This one I loved. ESPN's 25 best sports commercials! (God... I remember almost all of them and actually MISS some of them!) Why are there no great female guitar players? Yes, there ARE still heroes in this world. Patriot's cheerleader loses her Super Bowl ring. In other news, NFL cheerleaders get Super Bowl rings? Transparent aluminum is here. Scotty would be pleased RED ALERT TO VADERGRRRL!!! George Lucas may make Star Wars sequels. Great disturbance in Force felt, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror but were suddenly silenced! Ok.... here's a funny for today: "Expert" categorizes women's pubic hair into 5 types, each determines a woman's sexual persona And some great headlines for today: Not content with only producing vehicles for men with small penises, Hummer introduces a cologne for men with small penises Cleveland police involved in deadly shootout with laser printer (second story) Step One: Name your product "Butt Paste." Step Two: Get free publicity from amused media. Step Three: Jealous underpants gnomes Teachers switch to purple pens to correct papers since red is too harsh. Here comes the pseudo-science You can't chew chicken poop in Turkmenistan anymore Robotic suits now able to help the disabled climb stairs, join the Avengers New pillow lets you know surf conditions in real time, makes you wet bed Jacko's nose isn't plastic after all... it's made from his ear Afghanistan may not have running water or electricity but the State Department is making sure they get low-priced Pepsi What do you do if you can't get laid? Write a script, direct the film, and cast yourself in the lead opposite a hot chick of course Holy man carries his mom in basket on 17-year journey. Mom asks, "Are we there yet?" And that's the rest of the story! Have a great Tuesday all... |
