At the end of my rope....

Well there was another big blowout with my son last night, again, the underlying problem is our refusal to let him get his tongue pierced. We wanted him to stick around for a night, and he HATES that. I caught him in a lie yesterday about his car, and he just went off. Then talk turned to money, and his lack of saving much.. as he has many bills to pay for in the coming years for college. He treats my wife and I with such total disrespect, that it's disgusting. I tell you, I'm ashamed at how I brought him up, to act like this. And then, everything's our fault because we drew a line in the sand and said if he got his tongue pierced, he'd have to move out. That's how badly we don't want it. So, the circular argument goes, "what kind of parents would throw their kids out" to which we say "it's YOUR conscious decision to have the piercing KNOWING the consequences, so it's YOU that's kicking yourself out."
Sunday night, he told us about hiking a mountain in the area, and my wife said "I'd rather you don't hike that area at night, as many hikers have died from falls from cliffs in that area", and he blew up telling us we're trying to tell him what he can and can't do. GOOD GRIEF!
All he's been doing lately is upsetting me and my wife, and it's getting old. I'm not sure what to do anymore, but I for one, am sick of losing sleep over him. We feed him, clothe him, bought him a nice car, pay his insurance, and he treats us like crap. This is not the relationship I want(ed) to have with my son. I'm truely at the end of my rope.

Even in this mood, I laughed so hard, I almost cried when I saw this!

Have a nice Wednesday.
