All good things.......

After 727 posts, and sharing a lot (sometimes more than I should have) of my life.... I am ending my blog.

It was a long time coming, for many different reasons.. but the biggest is I'm posting less of me, and more of the news. I'm retreating into myself again, and when that happens, why have a blog at all. Perhaps I'll have one again someday, and if I do, I'll let you all know.
My Wine blog will continue to exist, so check there for new wines that I enjoy.

So, to all the wonderful friends I've met her, Karen, Mark, Bob, Colin, the shmoops, Alvis, as well as my long time friends michelle, Carrie, Aaron, Mike H, Paul, Curt and Kent (Bubba), thanks for sharing my life here, and please keep in touch (you all should have my email).

In the words of the late Douglas Adams...

So long, and thanks for all the fish....

Finally, some sun...

Yep, supposed to be sunny and up to almost 80 today! Whoo hoo!!

On my way home yesterday, my daughter calls my work call and tells me our home phones are out. Picks up a phone, and no dial tone.
Then, she tries to call our phone #, and gets an answering machine for "Tim and Tina". Ohhhh kayyyy!
Well, it seems a lot of the phones in my area are messed up. So on a different phone # that I have in the house (had it since I ran a BBS in the 80's), we call and put my home cell in as the contact #.
Later on, they call my cell and tell me "Must be working, as we got an answering machine". Riiiiiiiiiiight....
I explain it's not me it's calling, and they forward my phone # to my cell... for now.

Hopefully, by the time I get home today, it'll be fixed for good.

Nothing else new right now.. so on to the news:

More rain....

Yeah, another raining day Wednesday.. but the end of the week's supposed to be gorgeous.

This weekend is when most of the car shows/cruise nights start in Connecticut, so hopefully if we get a nice weekend, I'll visit at least one.

The pollen count is so high, I'm always stuffed up. Seems I never had this problem as a kid... but most people I know, are now affected by it. My nice black truck looks yellow with so much pollen falling lately.

Not much else going on, so on to the news:

Another rainy Tuesday...

The "come to the office" from yesterday, was for my boss to give me my performance review. I guess it was overdue.

Well, vacation last week was ok, but I MUCH rather go somewhere than stay home. It barely felt like I had a vacation to be honest.

Monday we stayed home as it was raining hard.
Tuesday, we went to the Basketball Hall of Fame, which underwhelmed me, unfortunately. I don't know, I guess I was thinking it was something way different.... but I came away a bit disappointed.

Wednesday, we took a nice drive in the Vette up into Massachusetts to the Yankee Candle company factory store, which was a gorgeous ride.

Thursday, we did some stuff for my mom, then just did some chores around town.
Friday, we went to one of the larger malls in Connecticut, just to poke around and get in some walking.
Saturday night, we had our friends Ray and Debbie over for dinner and a movie.

Hey, this Friday, is Cinco de Mayo! Bring on the Tequila!

Here's a good funny for you all:

Why our country is in trouble

Perhaps this will explain it all.
A Washington, DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of why our country is in trouble!

1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window.

2. I got a call from a candidate's staffer, who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, then she interrupted me with, "I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts," Without trying to make her look stupid, I calmly explained, "Cape Cod is in Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa,"
Her response - click.

3. A senior Vermont Congressman called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, "Don't lie to me, I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!"

4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife who asked, "Is it possible to see England from Canada?" I said, "No." She said, "But they look so close on the map."

5. An aide for a cabinet member once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas. When I pulled up the reservation, I noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas. When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, "I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time."

6. An Illinois Congresswoman called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 am and got to Chicago at 8:33 am. I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois, but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that.

7. A New York lawmaker called and asked, "Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?" I said, "No, why do you ask?" She replied, "Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!"

After putting her on hold for a minute while I looked into it (I was laughing) I came back and explained the city code for Fresno, CA is (FAT), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on her luggage.

8. A Senator's aide called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, "Would it be cheaper to fly to California, and then take the train to Hawaii?"

9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman who asked, "How do I know which plane to get on?" I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, "I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them."

10. A lady Senator called and said, "I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola, Florida. Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?" I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola, Fl. On a commuter plane. She said, "Yeah, whatever, smarty!"

11. A senior Senator called and had a question about the documents he needed in order to fly to China. After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded him that he needed a visa. "Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those." I double checked and sure enough, his stay required a visa. When I told him this he said, "Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!"

12. A New Mexico Congresswoman called to make reservations, "I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York." I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, "Are you sure that's the name of the town?"
Yes, what flights do you have?" replied the lady. After some searching, I came back with, "I'm sorry, ma'am, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a Rhino anywhere."
The lady retorted, "Oh, don't be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map; So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, "You don't mean Buffalo, do you?"
The reply? "Whatever! I knew it was a big animal".

Now you know why Government is in the shape that it's in!

Busy busy busy...

Unfortunately, it's going to be a REAL busy day, so very little here today, plus, I've been told to go in to the main office for 8am this morning. That has me.... interested.

Vacation was ok.. then Thursday I went into the main office to pick up my paycheck, and got a bit pretty upset at someone's version of a sense of humor in my office.

Like I said... more on all of this later this week.

For now, here's some news:
