Busy weekend...!

Well, while Friday was pretty much quiet, Saturday was anything but.
I've been trying to convince the wife to get a new car for a year or more, and Saturday, I think I got through as her car needs some serious repairs and it'll cose about 30% of what the car's worth. So, the wife, son and I go looking at a car for him, and then at another dealer for her.. when daughter calls my cell. "Hey, I may want a new car..." to which my wife says "I'll take HER car no problem!". Daughter's car is only 2 years old, has low mileage, and is smaller and wife likes it. So, turn around, and go get daughter. The car we went to see for my son wasn't too nice, then we go to the dealer where my daughter bought her existing car to look at the new ones. To make a long story short, she's having them find EXACTLY the car she's looking for, then we'll deal. We'll see how that goes.

THEN, Saturday, my mother-in-law shocks me, calls and says I can use her garage for my Vette! *gasp*
So, we spend yesterday cleaning out the garage real well (had a lot of our stuff in there), and with my friend Dave's help, we get it all out in one shot. We do have to make a dump-run, but we'll wait till this weekendn for that.
Oh, and Saturday night we went out and had a nice dinner with our friends Ray and Debbie.... nice and relaxing.

On the downside, dad looks awful *sigh*. He's barely up for 20 minutes at a time now he's so drugged up from pain meds.. and his skin pallor is awful. I fear he has very little time.

Yesterday afternoon, wife had to run some errands, so daughter and I took the Vette out for a bit (it was gorgeous out) and looked for cars for my son while he was working.

What'd you do this weekend?

On to the news:

TGIF.. The search renews again

Yep, the search for a car for my son begins again. We looked at a large dealer yesterday with no luck. This weekend, we'll probably check a bunch more. Of course, what he wants, and what I want... vary a bit. I'd like to say I'll be able to relax this weekend, but I doubt it.

Welcome home Karen!!! She was in the hospital recently and is back home resting comfortably.

My friend Fred, on the other hand, (michelle's husband) is back in the hospital... good wishes will be appreciated.

Well, the weather's finally turned on us. The last couple of days, it's been in the high 20's in the morning! BRRRRR!

Is anyone going out for Halloween???

Incredible Week...

Well, while I was golfing on Friday, a virus broke out where I work. When I came in Monday, we were in "RED ALERT" mode.. so I was scrambling.
With a lot of wonderful help from co-workers here, as of this morning, the problem seems to be gone. There's a lot of clean-up work to do, but that'll happen in the next few days.

The insurance company is going to total my son's car. I finally told him last night, and it didn't seem to matter too much, till he was out with his friends. ALl of a sudden, he calls and is pretty upset that he's going to lose the first car he's owned and loved. Car shopping ahead... it's a mixed blessing.
I love car shopping, but it always ends in a fight with the wife. I just have to make the best of it and minimize the problem.
Also, my wife's going through a minor medical crisis right now.. and I'm being VERY attentive to her.
Dad hasn't had a good week... stress level is high for me.. what else can go wrong?

On to the news:

Ok, this is weird

I love long weekends...

I had a fantastic time golfing on Friday.. didn't do to badly, and though cool, it was a beautiful day.

The rest of the weekend was relatively quiet. Had a meeting with mom and brother on Saturday morning.. seems we're going to put dad on hospice this week as he is deteriorating.

Other than that, not much new going on... more tomorrow.

More vacation news:
When we got to Belize, the other 2 guys went scuba diving, and me and the 3 ladies went to Altun Ha to see the Mayan Ruins. It was a sweltering day, but everyone had a great time! I have some pics to put here, but they'll have to wait till next week.
After getting back to the ship, we all felt great to shower and have a nice dinner.

This is my Friday...

Yep, I'm taking tomorrow off to go golfing with my friend Dan. This is a game we do every year now (second or third year now in a row) at a gorgeous course just over the border in New York State. Should be a nice day, if not a bit cool.

On to the cruise news:
Well, at Key West, we just walked around bar-hopping all day. Stopped at the Hogs Breath Salloon, Flying Monkey, and of course Sloppy Joes, where we had lunch. It was a gorgeous day, and a good time was had by all.
The next day was a day at sea, so we all relaxed on deck sunning and reading. This was also a good day to explore all the 24 bars on board the ship! *S*

More later.

Oh, I'm off work tomorrow, so the blog will be late.

Hey Porter, what happened to your blog????

We got some good news yesterday about my son's car. Seems our auto insurance will pay to repair it *whew*. It's being towed to the dealer today.

Oh, and Karen, from her My Life blog at left, is going to the hospital today for an operation. Good thoughts and/or prayers for her would be appreciated.

Did I ever pick a week to be on vacation...

First, last week while on vacation, it rained 9 days straight here. Never saw a drop of rain on vacation.
This week, a category 5 hurricane going right through where we were! Wow... what luck.

Well, I found out yesterday, my new boss reads my blog. How I found out however, was not fun for me. I've only ever said nice things about this boss here, so that's not a problem.. but I've considered closing this blog and starting anew.

Late last Friday night, my son was driving his car, and in all the rain, drove into a HUGE puddle, sucking water into his engine. So much water, that the pistons tried to come up to compress what should have been gas, but instead was water, and majorly seized (broke) the engine in the car. This is going to be a huge bill that he doesn't have any money for as he's a full time college student with a part time job. *sigh* It never stops with him......
I may have to take some time off of work to have his car towed to the dealer, so they can estimate how much damage it's sustained.

On to the news:

Thanks to Kelley

Thanks to Mike H

Vacation News...

Well, the flight down went perfectly, the busride to the pier went great, and we were onboard having lunch within 30 minutes of getting to the dock.
Mike and Jeralyn and Gene and Kathy got to the pier about an hour later. We explored the ship a bit, then went up on deck as we left Port Canaveral.
Here's a pic of the wife and I as we leave port

Not long after that, we set up the bar in my room. There was a third bottle, that wasn't there yet (it's all Tequila) and we had plenty of limes! We were feeling great before the ship even left port! *LOL* I was in a vacation frame of mind from the time I left work on Friday, and by Saturday afternoon.. I was feeling fantastic. It was nice to leave the worries behind for a bit.

More tomorrow, on to the news:

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaack!

I'm going to have to make this short, as I'm SO pressed for time this morning....

The cruise was FANTASTIC! Perfect weather every day, while it rained for 9 days straight at home.
My son got his car messed up in a very large puddle he tried to drive through, but it's a painful and expensive lesson for him as his car is being repaired today.

More on the cruise tomorrow... sorry this is so short but work is more out of control than after any vacation I've taken so far.

VACATION TODAY AT 3PM! YAYYYYYYYYYYY!

This has been SUCH a busy week in work.. it's amazing. Today, I was hoping to have at least a LITTLE bit of time to relax and get in Vacation Mode... but work's fighting me every step of the way! GRRRR!

Welcome back Trucker Bob... his blog is back up and running after being gone for a bit.

I started packing last night.... I'm about half done, and it should take only about an hour to finish tonight. I have to get a haircut after work.. and then, a week of R&R!
I spoke to Mike, our friend that's also going on the cruise with us from Alabama and he's leaving this morning (driving) to head to Port Canaveral. I'll meet him at the pier on Saturday mid-morning. We're both READY! *LOL*

Other than that.... time to get to the news:

One more workday after today....!!!!

The stress keeps piling on.. I can't even begin to tell you. I'll probably get on the cruise ship and implode from decompression.. *chuckling*

I spoke for quite some time yesterday to my brother about his cruise (his first) and he absolutely loved it. I'm so glad he had a great time.. and that he says he'll do it again.

The meeting with the hospice people went real good yesterday.. looks like my mom will go with it, but she wants to wait till I get back from my vacation, so it'll be about 2 weeks and she'll sign up. It'll help her a lot.. so much, I don't think she realizes it yet.

Last night, I created a new post for my Wine Spot blog. Check it out.

Other than that, I have to get going as work is coming soon, so here's the news:

Britney Spears confirms that her 15 minutes are just about up by admitting the existence of a sex tape video. The slut.

Come onnnnnnnnnnnnn Friday!

Friday can't come fast enough for me... but it'll be here soon enough.

Today I'm taking a half day off to go to a meeting with my mom, dad and brother with the hospice people sometime this afternoon. Hopefully that'll be a lot of help for my mom.

Other than that, Aaron came out and spent the day working with me yesterday, and we got a lot done, and had some great chicken wings for lunch (Cajun Teryaki ones).

Mike, I'm bringing some Tequila too for the cruise! We'll both bring limes, so we'll be in great shape! *LOL* This cruise will be off to a GREAT start within an hour!

Welcome home Bruce! Glad you had a great vacation.

Now, on to the news:

4 Days till Vacation!

The countdown is underway..... I'm SO looking forward to getting away!

Dad and mom are doing well... spoke to mom no less than 6 times yesterday. She's pretty frazzled about what's going on when, so I'm trying to make sure she knows what's going on. We should talk to the hospice person tomorrow afternoon.

Other than that, just starting to think about packing for the trip. I have to remember to take some limes for the Tequila my bud Mike and I will be sharing onboard! *S*

It's going to be a busy day in work today, so I'll get on to the news:

What a Weekend!

Well, Friday night was nothing special... had hoped to go out to a movie with a friend of mine but he couldn't make it, so I just stayed home and caught up on some movies I had taped.

Saturday morning, I went out early and got new tires for my 4Runner, then went home, got the Vette (it was gorgeous out) and went to see mom and dad. Dad had had a rough night, but was generally ok.. and I spent a bit of time there and then went home.
Saturday afternoon, we got ready for the wine dinner we were going to that night. I made an appetizer of tiny reuben sandwiches with those tiny rye breads. They came out fantastic, and they went quickly at the party.
The party itself was a great time. Wonderful people, great conversation, awesome food.

Sunday morning, while I normally go see mom and dad early, I had to be there at 1pm, so I took the Vette to a car show less than a mile away.. our "Mum Festival Car Show". Now, we have a Chrysanthemum Festival every year in town, complete with a "Miss Chrysanthemum" and all, and this is the first year I even go to the show.

Well, I get there at 11am, and there's already about a hundred gorgeous cars and I walk around talking to people, and see "Miss Chrysanthemum" walk by once or twice. Everyone gets to vote on their favorite cars and there's trophys for later on.
At just about noon, I go back to my car and Miss C is there, and asks "Is this your car?" to which I say yes... and she proceeds to give me her "Official Choice of Miss Mum 2005 award!"
I'm absolutely shocked. There's MANY more gorgeous cars than mine there.. but she chose mine... and all I can choke out is... "Thank you... thank you...".
Then, she really puts me over the edge, and gives me "The Greater Bristol Chamber of Commerce Choice". Ok, now I was wondering if this were a joke... but she directed me to drive my car up to the main stage, where another bombshell was dropped. I got a trophy... not just a trophy, a HUGE trophy! It's about 16 inches high, and real metal. At this point, I'm blown away, as cameras are taking pictures of her handing me the trophy, people are clapping.... I was blushing beet red!
As I had to leave about then anyways, I drove on off into the sunset still not believing my luck.
When I got home, my wife took a picture of me, my Vette and the trophy.

Ok, back to normal land.... went to see mom and dad later, and the VNA nurse came in and will start visiting dad again today. This week, we have a few meetings with different hospice organizations for dad.

Thank God my vacation's coming up......

And now, on to the news:

Toddler shows up at day care with a small bag of cocaine; sent home for not bringing enough to share with everybody

Just what you've always wanted. A 15 million candlepower flashlight!
