Another lousy Monday....

Well, at least it's not snowing.. though I'm not feeling 100% today. Feels like I ate something very wrong yesterday.... stomach's doing some flip-flops on me.

This weekend was a busy one.. got up early Saturday morning and took a ride up to Southwick Massachusetts, to buy some more of the fantastic wine the doctor had gotten me for Christmas (2000 Bordeux). They had 11 more bottles, so I bought them all up. Hey, when you like something, go with it.
Saturday afternoon our friends Dave and Tina came over with their daughter Ashley (my God-Daughter) who was selling Girl Scout Cookies.

Sunday, visited with mom and dad as usual, then in the afternoon, Ray came over to watch the UCONN basketball games (Mens and womens).

Yo, Curt... did you get a bunch of that ice storm that hit down yonder?

BTW, why can't radios and TV stations use "Super Bowl"???? Those two words copyrighted???? How stupid.

Other than that... nothing more to report.

19 Days till Costa Rica

And now, the news not fit to print:

Another cold one... hopefully the last. -6 this morning!

Yep, it's -6 this morning when I came into work.. damn what a cold spell! TGIF though... even though I've been busy this week, it's gone painfully slow. I guess it's true, time does slow down when you're looking forward to something *L*.

From my bud Paul, go to Budweiser's website, and click on the "Ad you won't see during the big game".

No plans yet for the weekend.. just hoping the temps get up above freezing to melt some of the snow and ice!

They finally showed photos of the submarine that ran around in the pacific a few weeks ago. Man, the front end is DESTROYED!

And now, on to the news not fit to print:

One last one.. I found this hilarious vid on the net.. with a title of "Be careful when scraping off your car!"

If it's Wednesday, it must be snowing!

Yep, 3-8 inches of the white stuff again today! If it's at all possible, Costa Rica's looking even better now. *chuckle*

It was a great night last night... made a nice fire in the woodstove, Ray came over to watch UCONN win a basketball game.. he brought our tickets and stuff for the trip and we talked about all we were going to do (or lack thereov) in Costa Rica.

Hey michelle, you're QUITE the different woman than anyone I know.. so it's no surprise to me that you read maps well! *chuckling*

Still out in the cold....

Yep, still temps are down in the single digits to minus digits. We're also supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow again tonight!
The good news is, 25 more days till Costa Rica, where it's NICE and warm!
Check out the weather in Costa Rica! 84 degrees and sunny every day this week!

Work's nice and busy this week... it'll go by quickly!

I see Aaron really loved the news yesterday! *LOL*

And Curt, sad to say, the WWE IS fake! Sorry bud...

In Honor of Johnny Carson, here's a small joke, not by Johnny, but with him in it:

Bubba owns a combination gas station and repair shop somewhere in Arkansas. Bubba has a buddy named Leon, and Bubba and Leon like to get together from time to time and play cards. Well, one day they were doing just that, and Bubba was not doing well - he was about $10,000 in the hole.

Leon brought up an old argument.

"I still don't think you know Johnny Carson," says Leon.

Bubba replies, "I do too know Johnny Carson."

Now Bubba is the type that insists that he knows everyone, and he and Leon argue back and forth for a while as to whether or not Bubba really knows Johnny Carson. Finally, they agree to settle it once and for all.

Leon says "Okay, tell ya what. I'll bet you, double or nothing, that you don't know Johnny Carson.

Bubba: "You have a deal."

So, they run out back and hop on Bubba's leer jet and take off towards Hollywood. As they are circling preparing to land, Bubba points out Charleton Heston's place and several others. When they finally get to Johnny Carson's house, Bubba rings the doorbell and the butler answers.

"Is Johnny in?" Bubba asks.

"Who may I say is calling" returns the butler.

"Just tell him Bubba is here," replies Bubba.

The Butler turns and closes the door. In a few minutes, to Leon's astonishment, Johnny Carson himself comes barreling out the door and wraps himself around Bubba.

"BUBBA!! How in the world are you? How have you been?"

They spend a good while laughing and catching up on old times, and then they take their leave.

On the way back to the airplane, Leon turns to Bubba. "Okay, you win that one. So you know Johnny Carson. But I bet I can come up with someone you don't know."

"Okay, shoot."

"I'll bet you don't know Joe Namath."

"Man, Joe and I are old buddies!"

"No way. Double or nothing you don't know Joe Namath."

"It's a deal. I'll take you to his restaurant."

So, Bubba and Leon head for Joe Namath's restaurant. When they arrive, Bubba grabs a waiter and asks him if Joe is in.

'Who's asking'

"Just tell him Bubba's out here."

The waiter disappears, but in a few seconds out comes Joe, jumping tables and knocking people out of the way.

"BUBBA! HOW HAVE YOU BEEN?"

They laugh and talk about old times over a free meal. Leon is simply dumbfounded. Later, back in the airplane, Leon asks for one last chance.

"Look, Bubba, I'm about $30,000 in the red. Give me one last shot, and I will think of someone I am CERTAIN you cannot know."

"Okay, buddy. I'm just making lotsa money off of you. One last chance."

"Okay. I know there is absolutely no way that you can know the pope."

Bubba bursts into laughter. "Man, the pope and I have known each other for years. We're old college
chums."
"There is absolutely no way. You cannot know the pope."

So, Bubba turns the plane and they head for Rome. They arrive at the Vatican, and Bubba stops Leon. "Now, you will have to wait out here. The security here is very high. They know me, so they'll let me in, but you will have to stay out here. So, will it be good enough for you if the pope and I come walking out on the balcony arm in arm, smiling and laughing, and we pick you out of the crowd and wave at you?"

Leon thinks a minute and replies, "Yeah, that will be great."

"Okay, stand out here, right in the center of the crowd here in the court, so we can find you."

Bubba enters the Vatican, and presently he and the pope appear out on the balcony, arms around one
another, smiling and laughing. They search the crowd, and Bubba points to Leon, and they smile and wave.

Leon smiles and waves, but in the next instant he faints dead away. Bubba, alarmed, excuses himself from the pope and goes running down to Leon. As Bubba approaches, he grabs Leon and begins shaking him. "Leon, Leon, are you okay?"

Leon opens his eyes and says, "I was okay when you knew Johnny Carson.

And I could even handle it when you knew Joe Namath.

But when I was standing there waving at y'all, and the guy standing next to me in the crowd asked
'Who's that guy in the white robe standing next to Bubba?', I just couldn't take it anymore!"

By the way, my favorite Johnny Carson joke, was early in his career, when he had famous golfer Arnold Palmer on the show. Arnold, made a completely innocent remark that his wife kissed his (golf) balls before every round, to which Johnny replied "I bet that makes your putter rise!" *ROTFL*

One more Johnny Carson Quote:
Anytime four New Yorkers get into a cab together without arguing, a bank robbery has just taken place.

One new thing, here's a "Quote of the Day":

"I do not wish to treat friendships daintily, but with the roughest courage. When they are real, they are not glass threads or frost-work, but the solidest thing we know."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

18 Inches of snow later......

Yep, Saturday through Sunday morning, we got dumped on by 18+ inches of light, powdery snow. We were lucky. Cape Cod in Massachusetts, got over 3 feet! Also lucky it was the light stuff. Very easy to remove, though the winds did make it drift quite a bit.
Saturday morning, my son and I went out for some gas, and a few things and you would have thought the world was coming to an end with all the people in the grocery stores, and getting gas! Good grief people... it was like a mob scene!

It was said on the radio this morning, it's been over 10 days since we've been above the freezing mark! It's COLD out here!

With all that snow, we watched movies, made a nice fire in the wood-stove... and generally spent it all indoors. Hey Colin, you still digging out up there???

Johnny Carson passed on this weekend. He was such an icon on late night TV for so long. He'll be missed.

More cold, and a LOT more snow! TGIF!

Well, it's a whopping 2 degrees here.. and not going to go even to double digits today! Tomorrow, we're looking at 12 to 15 inches of snow!!! Looks like winter finally got here, albeit a little late.

Glad I get into work early.... looking out the window here, the cars are lined up on the highway and not moving because of an accident further towards Hartford. Happens quite often, that traffic jam.

Curt got the riddle from yesterday right... and seeing as Curt was the only one to even guess, I guess I'll stop the riddles. Seems everyone lost interest real quick.

Carrie says it's -35 in Toronto this morning.... lessee... if that's centigrade... you take the number, subtract 32, and add the circumfrence of the earth at the equator... or something like that. More snow, cold weather, and Payday!

Yep, we got about 2-3 inches of snow last night, and it's going to be well below zero tonight.
The good news is, it's Payday..!

A few nights ago, my wife and daughter were looking through a Kraft cooking magazine, and found this wonderful recipe, and made it It's OUTSTANDING, and very simple to make. Give it a try!

30 days till Costa Rica!

Now, on to the Genius Quiz answer! (Way to go Curt!)
You should switch. If contestants switch every time, one of
two things happens:
(a) With probability 2/3, the contestant picks a wrong door. Monty Hall shows the prize behind the other wrong door, and the contestant switches to the door hiding the car.
(b) With probability 1/3, the contestant picks the right door, Monty Hall reveals either the donkey or the bananas, and the contestant switches to the other "zonk" prize.

So, with probability 2/3, the "switch" strategy will elicit the car.

This is one of the most famous (and widely-debated) probability problems of the past ten years. For more information, and a simulation to show that the above solution is truly correct, check out the following website:

Click here to go to website

And now, Quiz Question #2:

The Two Guards, Part Two: Stranger Than Truth (from Discover magazine, January, 1991)
You have undoubtedly heard of those mysterious islands where half the inhabitants always tell the truth and the other half always lie. Nobody seems to have actually visited one of these islands, but everyone knows of someone who has, someone who found himself at the fork in a road with a strange islander (who could be either a truth teller or a liar) and who was able to ask only one question to find the right path.
That's simple. So is the case where the islanders don't speak English and you have to interpret their response. It's even possible to find the right road if half of them are zombies or psycho killers and you are armed with one silly question.
I once found myself on an island that made those places look like "Romper Room." Picture, if you will, the Isle of Row, a one-acre forsaken swatch of desert in the middle of the Sea of Troubles. Despite its diminutive size, Row has no less than four kinds of people, all outwardly indistinguishable from one another. There are the members of the First Family, who always tell the truth, and the Pretenders, who never do. There are the Eccentrics, who may or may not tell the truth, depending on whim. Finally there are the Wimps, who are incapable of speaking unless they have heard one of the other kinds of people speak, and then they obsequiously chime in.
One day, as luck would have it, I found myself at the only crossroads on the island, facing four possible routes. Three Rowians stood by, milling about, and I had only two questions to ask in order to reach, as directly as possible, the fabled 100-foot Tower of Schmooze, the island's premier, albeit only, tourist attraction. What did I do?
Yours in pursuit of truth, Dr. Crypton.

Someone turn ON the heat!

Yep, it's exactly 0 degrees out there this morning! Damn that's cold... with a light breeze too!

Hey michelle, is Fred looking to do another cruise? *LOL*

My mom's doing pretty good with her pnemonia.. but then again, she's a tough lady.

Did anyone watch American Idol last night? That last girl, was like the female version of William Hung!!! And her friends tell her she's a great singer! (she needs new friends)

Last night was a great night for a fire in the woodstove.... felt so nice and roasty toasty in the family room!!!

Well, not much more to report right now.. so on with the news not fir to print:

"Hey Bubba, watch what I can do!" Woman falls to death attempting handstand on hotel balcony

For the girl who has everything except a rack: Gummy Bear breast implants

This one IS from down yonder:

And this one... is here in Connecticut!

The Truth is Out There! New X-Files movie in the works!

And Question 1 of The Genius Quiz!

Let's Make a Deal (from Marilyn vos Savant's column "Ask Marilyn")
You are a contestant on the game show Let's Make a Deal, and emcee Monty Hall has a game for you to play. On stage are three huge doors, and he informs you that hidden behind one of the three doors is a brand new sports car, behind another is a donkey, and behind another is 400 pounds of bananas. (This may seem obvious, but your goal is to get the car, not the donkey or the bananas.) He asks you to choose one door, and you will win the prize behind that door. You choose, but before he reveals what you have won, Monty reveals what's behind one of the doors you did not pick, and it's not the car. Before revealing what lies behind the remaining two doors, he makes you one final offer: if you wish, you may switch from your choice to the other remaining door. The question is: Should you switch, should you not switch, or does it matter?

Answer in the comments!

Have a great day all!

Cold as a witches ***!

Damn it's cold here today! Down to about 3 degrees, and just raw out.

So, where do I start with all the news?
I found out Friday, my mom's got pnemonia. *groan* Luckily she's taking care of herself and is doing real well. Dad's doing pretty good.. nothing new on that front.
How do you people deal with showing mom how to use a VCR/TV that's VERY complicated??? I'm lucky... my kids are doing most of the "TV-Tech Support" now.. *chuckling*

Friday, I happened to notice on one of the vacation websites I use to check prices, that the cruise I wanted to go on, came DOWN in price! I called my travel agent, and sure enough, there's a BIG cruise sale going on. She got me a price on an outside cabin, air and transfers, for over $600 less than earlier in the week for an inside cabin! It's BOOKED! YAY!

Friday night, Aaron and I went to dinner and a movie... though we changed movies as the one we wanted to see was only playing late. We saw Flight of the Phoenix instead, something we both wanted to see at a second run theater near where I live. Now, Aaron's never been there, and the prices are very low, which means they have to cut corners somewhere. Things like heat.... aren't included in the ticket price.. *laughing*
Oh, it warmed up after the movie started... but it was funny to watch Aaron's face, thinking it'd be about 30 degrees throughout the movie!

Saturday, Ray came over to watch some UCONN basketball, then we went out to dinner, where I had probably the best piece of prime rib I've ever had in my life.

Sunday, did the usual visit mom thing, then not much else till later in the day when my friend Dave called and asked if I wanted to hit a movie, seeing as we both didn't have to work yesterday. The wife was ok with that, so we went to see House of Flying Daggers. It was a lot like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, with the same young girl, and it too was all subtitled, but it wasn't too bad. We did kinda sit there like MST3K, making funny comments at the movie at times... but it was fun.

Yesterday, I didn't do too much, and Ray came over again to watch a UCONN basketball doubleheader (womens game and mens). It was nice... I had a roaring fire going in the woodstove... some glasses of wine and 2 games! Life is good!

Thanks for the nice thought shmoops... ~S~

Days till Vacation:
32 till Costa Rica
86 till the cruise!

And now, the news not fit to print:

World's tallest, fastest roller-coaster completed in NJ. Goes from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds and reaching a maximum height of 456 feet (with pics and video). Crapping your pants optional

Color pics of Saturn's moon released.

Chance of rain in Las Vegas today: 0%. Chance of getting fired from your TV weather gig for calling Martin Luther King Jr a "coon": 100%

And that's all for today... have a great one!

TGIF, and Wacky Weather!

Well, it's 60 degrees this morning. That's right, 60F. This afternoon, it's going to snow. This has been the weirdest year ever for weather here in the NorthEast!

Tonight, I'm supposed to be going out to dinner and a movie with Aaron. Hopefully, we're going to see "The Life Aquatic", with Bill Murray. Should be a funny movie.

Looks like I'll be booking the cruise today..! *S* I can't wait... and, for the most part, this was one of the easiest trips to plan. Go figure.

Don't forget readers, there may not be a blog on Monday, as I have the day off! Whoo hoo!

Not a lot to say this morning, so I'll move on to the news:

Prince Charles orders Harry to visit Auschwitz
Here's some other royal blunders..!

Some stories, just write themselves:
Janet Jackson reportedly wears a penis around her neck

London Underground to pipe "uncool" music into stations to drive off thugs. "Uncool" defined here as Mozart and Vivaldi -- but strangely, not Ashlee Simpson

And just for Carrie, who's still out sick:
Three Canadian cartoon condoms, Shaft, Stretch and Dick, help in the battle against AIDS. This stuff just writes itself

Almost a Darwin award:
Guy who stole a tractor-trailer rig gets nabbed when he calls 911 for help. Seems he mistook the driver's tobacco juice spit cup for a refreshing beverage, hilarity ensued

Ugly-ass carp found with creepy human face

And now, my BOTD! From Little Red Riding Hood... My.. what big.... umm.... eyes, you have.. yeah, eyes..!

And a bonus one:I just love Kim's eyes..!

Have a great day and weekend!

It's getting close to Friday...!

Oh, and I get Monday off too... almost forgot!

It's almost a lock-solid deal that we're doing the cruise. All we have to do is find a cabin we like. You have to understand, the cabins you want on a cruise ship are above deck 5 vertically, and from the center to the rear of the ship. This keeps you far enough back that you won't feel up and down movement of the ship from being near the front of the ship, and up far enough to not hear the engines.
I called Royal Caribbean (cruise line) yesterday, and was sad to find out they won't offer a single thing, being as we're going to spend our 25th wedding anniversary aboard. I was hoping for a free upgrade of room, or something. Yeah, we'll probably get a bottle of Champagne for free or something... but I'd have hoped for osmething more.
We may do Europe sometime in the fall.

It's been an extremely busy week in work this week. Problems everywhere it seems, just luckily, not all at the same time.

Hey Carrie, sorry to hear you're sick! Get better soon. (ps, all this time at home is great for catching up on your blogging skills.. hint, hint, hint!) *L*

And now, the news not fit to print:

Prince Harry wears Nazi soldier's uniform to fancy dress party. Apology not taken serious after he mutters "Au schwitz, I was just joshin' ya"

Playboy playmate in court on assault charges. Witnesses who saw the fight report her karate was good, but they would have rather seen her box

Ashlee Simpson blames everything but her lack of talent for her performance at the Orange Bowl. "If they didn't like the performance, and that's what it was about, then sorry to them"

This makes me sick... read it
Cops in Florida prefer not to write each other tickets

Wow, my friend Dave won't like this:
Woman beats out 12 men for "Sexiest Plumber" title. Family fear shower of attention will cause her to become stuck-up

And that's the news for today.. have a great one!

Another slippery morning...!

Yep, we got about 3 inches of snow overnight, and this morning it's freezing rain over the top of it! So, needless to say, it's pretty slippery out there this morning.

38 Days till Costa Rica!

On the anniversary vacation, Europe may be out as prices are quite high right now. We're looking however, at a cruise that has the following itenerary that we both love:

DAY DATE PORT ARRIVE DEPART
Mon Apr 11 San Juan, Puerto Rico 8:00pm
Tue Apr 12 St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles 10:00am 5:00pm
Wed Apr 13 Gustavia, St. Barthelemy, Guadeloupe 7:00am 6:00pm
Thu Apr 14 St. Kitts 7:00am 6:00pm
Fri Apr 15 St. Lucia 10:00am 6:00pm
Sat Apr 16 Barbados 7:00am 6:00pm
Sun Apr 17 Grenada 7:00am 6:00pm
Mon Apr 18 Margarita Island, Venezuela 7:00am 3:00pm
Tue Apr 19 Curacao, Netherlands Antilles 11:00am 6:00pm
Wed Apr 20 Aruba 7:00am 6:00pm
Thu Apr 21 At Sea
Fri Apr 22 San Juan, Puerto Rico 7:00am

Other than St. Maarten and Barbados, we haven't been to the other islands before. I love iteneraries with lots of stops, and one day at sea on the end. Gives you a day to just relax after all that walking/discovering. This is also on a ship we've been on twice before, the Empress of the Seas. In my opinion, this would be a very, VERY romantic trip. She's coming around... we'll see how far today as I have to book soon because there's not many rooms remaining because it's a week where school's off.

To answer Curt's question in the comments yesterday, no, that's not the Vette I'd get. I'm getting a used one (I hope), between 2000 and 2002. Keep your fingers crossed!

Well, too much to do today to type here... here's the news not fit to print:

More Snow On the Way!

Yep, it's supposed to begin snowing this afternoon.. through the night and maybe get 3-6 inches of the white stuff.
We've had the strangest winter so far. We've had 50 degree temps, and then snow a day or two later. Thursday, it's supposed to reach 60 here!

It's the tsunami I tell ya! *chuckling*

Well, GM has finally unveiled the 2006 Corvette Z06 with 500+ Horsepower. The engine is totally new, a 7 Liter engine that just so happens to measure out to 427 Cubic Inches, a link back to it's earlier muscle-car heritage. For a few years, GM has been out of the picture of an "extreme" high performance cars like the Dodge Viper, and Ford GT, other 500 horsepower cars.

Well, on to the news not fit to print:

Oh, I almost forgot....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARRIE!!!

I'm glad Mondays only come once a week!

First, let me say my dad's doing a lot better. Thanks for all the kind msgs in the comments and emails.

This weekend went by way too fast.

Saturday, it was raining and freezing, which made it too slippery out for my friend Ray to come over and watch the 2 UCONN basketball games (mens and womens). The men won, the women lost.

Sunday, we did the regular visit mom & dad thing, then in the afternoon my friend Dave, his wife Tina and my Godchild Ashley came over to exchange Christmas gifts finally! They were out on Nantucket for Christmas and New Years. I finally opened that bottle of real Russian Vodka, and it was outstanding! We watched my favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers to make it to the next round of the playoffs!

On the "anniversary trip" front, I'm looking at an 11 day cruise, or possibly a trip to Europe. We'll see what happens!

Last night, our 3 favorite shows were on. Extreme Makeover, Home Edition, Desperate Housewives and Boston Legal.

Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful weekend. How was yours?

Here's the news not fit to print:

Wine is Fine... and TGIF!

Yep, the wine came in yesterday... AND, at less than $11 per bottle! What a steal!
I found this site about bordeaux wines that tells you everything you wanted to know, and more!

Other than that, the wife and I have been talking about places to go on our anniversary.. could be Europe, could be a cruise. I'm looking into it.

I'm getting a bit worried about my dad. I called mom yesterday and she said he's been sleeping ALL day. He gets up for 30 minutes, then back to bed. He's so darn thin... it's scary. *frown* I wish he'd gain some weight. Mom has to fight with him just to eat anything.

We're supposed to get more snow tonight/tomorrow morning.. should be nice looking at least.

Yes Colin, BC beat UCONN Wednesday night, but the good news is, we'll hopefully NEVER have to play them again. (I see you forgot to mention, we've beat them the last 9 times we met at the Civic Center)
Tomorrow should be a big basketball day. UCONN men play Georgetown away, and the women play their arch-nemisis Tennessee!

Kev, how's things going out in Malaysia bud???

Do people here read Curt's blog? Good grief it's hilarious! Please read it. It's on the left.

Do you know they've already raised over $4 billion for the tsunami victims?

43 Days till Vacation! *laughing*

White Stuff Everywhere!!!

Yep, it snowed almost all day yesterday, but the ground was still too warm after a few near 50 degree days. Last night, it got real cold, and it stuck. This morning, it's still snowing and we got upwards of 5 inches of the white stuff.

When the wife got home last night, she came down to see me (I was at my PC) and sheepishly said "... I... I... I'm sorry..." to which I said, "About what?".
She said of all she said. I asked her to seriously, ask her co-workers who she listens to so much, if their husband tried to take them to Hawaii, where SHE always wanted to go, and see what they'd say. She doesn't want to go to Hawaii just because I'm doing it for her. I'm not, totally.. but it IS where she wanted to go. I compromized. I offered.
So now she wants to see where else we can go. *grrrrrrrrrrrrrr* I get the feeling I'm being set up, that wherever I pick, will be in her words "where Dave wanted to go". More as it happens.

Did I mention about finding the wine that the doctor had gifted me with? Seems the Doctor (Gene) that gave it to me, finally remembered that he got the wine from another doctor he works with (me too) named Larry (can you say "regift"?).
So, Gene asks Larry where he got the wine, explains how he mistakenly gave me the wine when he meant to give another bottle (my luck), and Larry says sure, it came from a place in Southwick Massachusetts, and by luck, he was going there yesterday!
SO, I called Larry, and asked if he'd pick me up a case or so.
So, hopefully today he'll call and tell me he got me the wine!

Hump Day... *grumble grumble*
thanks for catching the misspelling Kev..

Well, as I've said before, this year in April will be my wife and I's 25th wedding anniversary. She had always mentioned wanting to go to Hawaii for our 25th (funny, she never asked me where I wanted to go), and I decided I'd just do what she wants.
Back in October, we were at the travel agent, and we talked about Hawaii, and my "frugal as a mmiser" wife said "Oh, that's way too much". First, we had a disagreement about how long to stay. She wanted to stay only 7 days, I wanted at least 10. Then, (at the travel agents), we argued about where to go, what to do.. and then I mentioned maybe we should do an escorted tour, to maximize our trip, and she goes ballistic that I'd want to ruin the trip, AND that it'd cost so much more. Our travel agent laughs about this as she's seen it all before, and we leave. We argue on the way home about Hawaii or not.

In the last few days, I've brought up Hawaii again, and in an effort to keep the peace, we had agreed on 10 days, so I called the travel agent and got prices for 2 islands, Maui and Oahu, as that's where both of us had wanted to go, for various reasons. When I explain to her where we would go, how much.. etc, she starts in on the "why are we doing this, and why are we doing that, and why these islands", and "I'm still mad at the argument 3 months ago".

At that point, I basically said forget it. If she ever gets to Hawaii, it'll be with her friends, or next husband as I'd never take here there now.

I went out of my way to try to take her to Hawaii, where SHE wants to go, finding romantic hotels right on the beach (I could care less), and making sure she was happy, and that's what I get. I just don't get it...
She can go on her own now.

Well, enough about that.. sorry for the rant.

On the good side, I got an email from Ricardo Vargas yesterday, he runs the tour company in Costa Rica I've been talking back and forth with about side trips when we get there. One of the people going asked me if I was interested in a deep sea fishing trip and I said "Hell yeah!", so I got some information from Ricardo.
Seems the Gulf of Papagayo is world famous for it's Sailfish, Blue, Black and Striped Marlin, Giant Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado and Roosterfish(?).

Tuesday Morning Blah's....

46 more days till vacation!!!

One of the good things about working for the state, is all the holidays. Thank goodness I get January 17 off for MLK day!

Today, on my Corvette a Day Calendar, is a beautiful 1963 Convertibla! The trivia question asks "What was the first year an AM-FM radio was available"?

Hey Colin, thanks for putting the links below your great sites! It really helps if I want to bookmark something.

Yo, Bubba... you still alive down yonder?

You know, it figures. I found an outstanding wine over New Years Eve (a Christmas gift from a doctor), and he can't remember where he got it! I searched the internet high and low, and found ONE small instance of it, at a website in France for a 1996 vintage. It's a 2000 Chateau des Graves, Bordeaux.
The search continues.

Well, here's the news not fit to print:

Beer-guzzling bears and other strange tales

After being dumped by Rebecca Romijn, John Stamos shows up at Walt Disney World with the Olsen Twins (pic) (is this a contesst for the most butt-ugly sunglasses?)

Yo, Bubba... Kentucky mayor in trouble for renaming roads after ex-wife, friends and 20 year old trophy wife!

Man who tries to imitate Jimi Hendrix by setting his guitar on fire ends up imitating Michael Jackson as well

Bush, who swore that he would never cut Social Security benefits and promised a magic plan to fix everything, presents his magic plan: cutting benefits

Summer is all about relaxing for most folks -- but for Brooklyn spa owner Kristine Panariello, it's about getting her staff ready to do a lot of "butt facials."

And that's, the rest of the story..!

Have a great day!

The Holidays are..... Over

That's always been sad to me. As I get older, the holidays go faster and faster. When I was a kid, the holidays lasted half a year it seemed.

New Years Eve, we spent at Ray and Debbies house, and it was absolutely fantastic. There were about 12 people total there, we brought 2 bottles of wine (everyone brought some), and I opened my old faithful, Clay Station, Malbec which I really like. It's really fruity without being too sweet. A doctor had given me the other bottle, a Chateau des Graves, 2000 Bordeaux. I opened that just before dinner, and it was like I opened a $500 bottle of wine. People gasped when they tasted it. It was just that breathtakingly good. Even the "wine snob" of the group fell in love with it.
We had all kinds of munchies, from shrimp coctail, to these baked, paper thin potato slices (done on a mandolin), making like a semi-hard potato chip, with a caramelized onion dip made from scratch.
For dinner, we had Marinated Tenderloin of Pork, and Chicken Gorgonzola. Both were fantastic.
Dessert, was my Death-by-Chocolate, eclairs, and cupcakes.
The food was outstanding, the company was perfect.. all in all, it was a great evening.

Saturday, we just hung around at the house, taking things slowly. We had a nice dinner at home, and I opened a bottle of my "special" wine, the '99 Chateau Prieure Lichine that I bought a case of a few years back.

Yesterday, we spent the morning at my moms as it's her birthday today, then went to my friend Gary's house to work on his kids PC's, and set up wireless networking in his house.

Today, I REALLY don't feel like being in work *frown*.... but I'm here.

And now, the news not fit to print:
