On Holidays, Natural Disasters and Other ramblings...

I'm a big fan of holidays. It gives you time away from work, time to see family and friends, and "re-charge" the batteries. We should all take advantage of the time to get some R&R, and smile. Me, I'll be smiling a lot this weekend, as next year's a big year for me. It'll be my wife and mine's 25th anniversary (wow, has it been that long?), and with any luck, I'll be buying myself a Corvette this year. That last part, will depend a lot on the person I'm having the 25th with! I hope everyone has a 2005 to look forward to as I do.

The Tsunami that rocked Southeast Asia, is just about unimaginable to me. Close to a hundred thousand people killed! Thank goodness Kev's alright, he posted in yesterday's comments. Here's some images of the aftermath..
One more thing, people that complain that the US is stingy when it comes to helping out, should realize that we're also sending billions rebuilding Afganistan, and Iraq right now! The well DOES have a bottom you know! Damn! When 9-11 happened, how much money did other countries send? We got a lot of sympathy cards... but cards won't put children through college. Cards won't build new buildings. Cards won't help pay the bills for families where the bread-winner lost their lives.
nuff said.

Well, there may be no blog tomorrow as I'll be sleeping in, so I hope you all have a wonderful New Years Eve! Don't drink and drive!

And now, the news not fit to print:

Where will it all end? A Sydney man has pocketed £415 - after auctioning a piece of breakfast cereal resembling ET

How to keep your Champagne "Bubbly"!

Why spend $200 an hour lying on a couch telling your troubles to a therapist when you can get the same benefits by renting a movie?

There actually IS Amateur Video of the Tsunami! Wow.....

Now here's a funny video for you!

Well, it seems part of the net is down this morning and I can't get to my normal "weird news" sites... so that's all I have for now.

Have a great, long weekend all!

Hump-Day.. and a short week...

Yep, tomorrow's the last workday of my week thank goodness.

I was thinking yesterday, that Kev who visits here often, was right in the path of that Tsunami (he's in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). I tried sending him an email yesterday but it bounced back. I hope that's just because the power is out on his ISP.

My friend Dave called last night, sick with the flu. Man, I don't envy him, as the last time I had the flu I was sicker than a dog for a week.

Welcome back to work Carrie!

Hey Bruce, you doing anything for New Years Eve?

I got this goodie in email yesterday:

TOP 5 SMART ASS ANSWERS FOR 2004...according to Reader's Digest:

Smart Ass Answer #5:
A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets.
As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened his trench coat and flashed her.
Without missing a beat....she said, "Sir, I need to see your ticket not your stub."

Smart Ass Answer #4:
A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but she couldn't find one big enough for her family.
She asked a stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy replied, "No ma'am, they're dead."

Smart Ass Answer #3:
The cop got out of his car and the kid who was stopped for speeding rolled down his window. "I've been waiting for you all day," the cop said. The kid replied, "Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could." When the cop finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his way without a ticket.

Smart Ass Answer #2:
A truck driver was driving along on the freeway. A sign comes up that reads, "Low Bridge Ahead." Before he knows it, the bridge is right ahead of him and he gets stuck under the bridge. Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car comes up. The cop gets out of his car and walks to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says, "Got stuck, huh?"
The truck driver says, "No, I was delivering this bridge and ran out of gas."

AND NOW........FOR THE.. 1 SMART ASS ANSWER OF THE YEAR 2004................
A college teacher reminds her class of tomorrow's final exam. "Now class, I won't tolerate any excuses for you not being here
tomorrow. I might consider a nuclear attack or a serious personal injury or illness, or a death in your immediate family, but that's it , no other excuses whatsoever!" A smart ass guy in the back of the room raised his hand and asked, "What would you say if tomorrow I said I was suffering from complete and utter sexual exhaustion?" The entire class is reduced to laughter and snickering. When silence is restored, the teacher smiles knowingly at the student, shakes her head and sweetly says
"Well, I guess you'd have to write the exam with your other hand."

Back to work.. *groan*

Yep, I'm back to work... though I could have used another day of rest. I'm beat, coughing and sneezing... but hey, work calls, and it's a short week as it is.

How was everyone's Christmas?
Mine was fine... quiet, and kinda restful. I got a few things that I had really wanted for Christmas.. *S* Aaron came over yesterday, and brought me a few gifts.. and one of them, probably the most simple one, I just adore. It's a page-a-day calendar all of Corvettes! There's even a Corvette trivia question on every page. It's real nice.. and extremely thoughtful! Thanks bud! I'll try to post some of the more interesting ones after Jan 1.

I hope all of you have a very Merry, and Happy Christmas Holiday!

I just got up.. and it felt nice to sleep in. Never even heard the wife get up to go to work!

Yesterday went quickly in work.. as I had expected. Today, it's very foggy out, and supposed to rain, but that's ok, I'm home! I have a few small things to run around for, and a conference call with my friend Harry at 9am, but the rest of the day to myself. Hopefully, my daughter, who gets out of work at noon, will go out this afternoon for a few things. Oh, and I have to do some wrapping, which shouldn't take long.

Tomorrow, I start cooking for going to mom's house tomorrow night. It's been a tradition in our family for many years to go to mom's on Christmas Eve. I can still remember the kids, when they were real small getting mad at grandma for getting them "socks and underwear" for Christmas, before rolling out their REAL gift! *L*
My son used to always get a gallon jar of half-sour pickles, cause he loved them.

Well, on to the news not fit to print:

Last Day of Work Before Christmas!

Yep, today should go nice and quickly.. then I'm off till next Monday.

My daughter had some friends over last night for her birthday party.. and it was nice. For a moment at least, she forgot about her broken heart.

We got invited to our friends Ray and Debbie's house for a New Years Eve party again this year. It's good for us, as it's real close to our house, and they always throw outstanding parties.

I'll probably get up and post a blog tomorrow morning.. *S* though it may be late.

Tomorrow, I have some work early on a website I'm designing for my friend from Georgia, then out for just a bit of shopping. THEN.... I have to start wrapping. I can't believe how far behind I am on that! *frown*

Before my news articles, I'm going to leave you with one of my favorite stories that truely hits to heart in the holiday season.

Kiss in a box

The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was tight and he became infuriated when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy."

He was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found the box was empty. He yelled at her, "Don't you know that when you give someone a present, there's supposed to be something inside it?" The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and said, "Oh, Daddy, it is not empty. I blew kisses into the box. All for you, Daddy."

The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness. It is told that the man kept that gold box by his bed for years and whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there. In a very real sense, each of us as humans have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, friends, family. There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Turn up the heat!

It's about 2 degrees out, with a wind chill in the negative teens!!! Talk about nipply out! *S* Hey Colin, cold enough for you bud??
The ride in this morning was bad on the side streets.. there's so much black ice around!

Today's my daughter's 23rd birthday! Happy Birthday Sarah!! She's still my little girl at 23 *S*.

I decided yesterday to take Thursday off too.. so tomorrow's my last day of work! I'll get some wrapping done, and a few last minute things. It's nice having a lot of vacation days!

Hey Carrie, you getting any work done at home, or are you romping around in your fuzzy bunny slippers teasing the mailman?? *LOL*

I'll share with you a tech support call from a day or three ago, Curt style:

Doctor:
Dave, can you come fix my PC

Me:
What's wrong with it?

Doctor:
I don't know, it's not working

Me:
Define "Not working" please.

Doctor:
Well, the screen doesn't work, my mouse doesn't work, the keyboard doesn't work... shall I go on?

Me:
Is there a light on the front of the computer?

Doctor:
No, it's dark.

Me:
The computer is the thing on the floor, not the screen

Doctor:
OH! Yes, the light is on. A green one. Is that good?

Me:
Yes. Now, on the screen thing, is the light on there?

Doctor:
No. What would happen if I push the button on the front?

Me:
Wow.. I don't know. Why don't you try and see. If it blows up, I have a new monitor.

Doctor:
Is it one of those nice flat screens?

Me:
No.

Doctor:
HEY! It works!

Another crisis averted.

Holiday Week... and all's quiet

Well, it snowed about 3-4 inches last night, and it's going to be at most, 10 degrees out today! Right now, the wind chill's down to about -15. It took a bit more time getting into work today as the roads haven't been plowed yet!

Friday, we had our Holiday Luncheon at work and the food was great. Everyone had a great time and was full!
Friday night, a bunch of us went across the street from the health center to a nice bar for some more celebrating. I ended up giving a few pool lessons, and laughing with some friends from work. All in all it was a great night.

Saturday, I was on the go from 8am till 11pm.
Got up early and met my friend Gary to go to a computer show, where he bought 2 PC's and I bought a nice, high-end 19" LCD Monitor for myself. Gary's having me install everything on the 2 PC's, so he paid me right on the spot for it and that went towards my new monitor. Got home, got the monitor installed and my friend Harry from Georgia came over to work on his website. We worked through the afternoon into the evening with only a break to go out to dinner. Harry finally left just before 11pm, and I was exhausted.

Sunday, went to see mom and dad.. they were getting their new sattelite tv system installed and I think she figured out it's not as easy as she thought. I watched the UCONN Game with my friend Ray who came over, and they won.
After Ray left, I began the configuration of the 2 PC's that Gary bought. They're almost ready, so he can wrap them up for Christmas presents!

So, as you can see, I was busy this weekend.

TGIF... more than ever...

Yep, I'm glad this week's almost over.
Today, we have our department holiday party at noon, and a happy hour after work. Should be a good, no-work kinda day (well, after noon at least).
Yesterday turned out a bit better than I thought it would... thank goodness.

Colin, glad you enjoyed the Antipasto Squares recipe bud! Keep that recipe handy! *LOL*

This year, is the 60'th anniversary of the "Battle of the Bulge", one of the most important battles of World War II. I found a wonderful story on CNN about one group of 18 men that held off and killed hundreds of the enemy.

This weekend, I have so much to do.. get cards for people, going to a computer show tomorrow (may buy a new 19" flat screen monitor), my friend from Georgia will be here this weekend.. UCONN plays on Sunday.. it'll be busy.

Oh, and have a great vacation Carrie! (lucky girl goes on vacation at the end of today!)

Roller Coasters....

I've always hated roller coasters. I've only been on one in my entire life. Other people love them. Live for them. I hate them.

The past few days have been a roller coaster of incredible highs and lows for me, and I hate it. It's one of those, "just when you think something good happens, it turns to mush" kinda weeks. I just want to get off the roller coaster.

To top it off, I don't feel good today.. I probably should have stayed home.
I wish I could write more.

Ahhh, Hump-Day again...

It's getting a bit closer to Christmas.. and the weather has definitely changed! It was in the single digits last night at my house, and today, it's supposed to stay in the mid 20's.

This weekend, a friend from Georgia's supposed to come visit (his trip was postponed from last weekend to this). Also, I'm going to a computer show on Saturday morning, where I may buy a nice big flat screen monitor. We'll see.

In the "You had to see this coming" files, Sprint and Nextel are going to merge. You had to know it was going to happen, as soon as Cingular purchased AT&T Wireless.

My daughter's 23rd birthday is coming next week. Good grief... I AM GETTING OLD! *gasp*

Well, here's the news not fit to print today:

I heard this one on the radio yesterday and couldn't believe it.
Police apologize after arresting 10-year girl on charge of carrying scissors to school in the first degree

Darwin, poetic justice and karma, all in one story: Man hit by the bus he threw a brick at

And that's all for today... Hey, be careful out there!

"It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas..."

It's getting COLD tonight.. down in the single digits!
Carrie says it's -20C there.. but that's Canadian temps... must be warmer than in American temperature! I think the C in -20C stands for Canadian. Them foreigners are weird.. *L*

You know, it's funny. All afternoon, evenings, even first thing on the drive in to work.. I think of dozens of things to say here. Yet when I get here, CLICK, just like a light switch, I forget all the subjects! *LOL*
I must be getting old (no comments Bruce!)

I finally decorated my office yesterday morning. Came in a bit early (even for me) and I had gotten a few things at the dollar store and now it looks at least partially like a holiday is approaching.

Curt, the dog was a light brown and white beagle. He's adorable too, but no dogs for me. Daughter's allergic to pet dander.

Well, here's the news not fit to print for today:

And another "Bubba" moment:
Family in Georgia has bonfire, puts plastic bottle of diesel on pyre, thinking the plastic will slowly melt and gas saturate the wood below. Wanna bet the phrase, "Good idea'r, Cletus" was uttered at some point prior to mass hospitalizations?

And just the title of these two tells the story:

Hey Carrie, I didn't write this one!

Psychiatrist who paid $5 parking ticket with feces-smeared bills fined $250, tells the court he needs some time to pay because he's got a lot of crap to do

And that's, the rest of the story... till tomorrow people!

Monday Once Again...

Well, it's Monday.. another week closer to Christmas.
10 more shopping days!

It was an uneventful weekend for me. Just normal stuff. My friend Ray asked me to take his dog (Buck) out for him as they were going away for a couple of days.
Now, when buck was brought home, they stopped at our house to show him to us, and "the puppy" had no name. When they pulled in, I was watching "Uncle Buck" on TV with John Candy. This dog had the same brown hair and happy demeanor as John Candy, so I called him "Buck" and he came running to me (jumping in the grass as if it were something new to him (it was)). When I tried to go back in the house for something, he whined until I took him with me. The name Buck stuck!

So, other than that.. I did a bit of Christmas shopping, but I'm just about done really.

Went to see mom yesterday, and she drops the bomb that she's getting sattelite TV next week. My brother and I had begged her not to get digital tv as it's too complicated.
This is the woman that when the phone rings, picks up the tv remote and tries to answer. Or tries to change channels with the phone. When her VCR dies, we have to get the most simple one, tape off buttons she's not supposed to use, and give written directions to (and still that doesn't work sometime).
Life's about to get a bit more interesting. I think we'll start screening our calls.

You guys know how much I love "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on Sunday nights. Check out the home from last night! I LOVE THE HOUSE!
Also, Elton John donated the piano he uses in his shows in Vegas to the family. What a story it was.

And now, the news not fit to print:

Does this surprise anyone?
Michael Jackson and his accuser's fingerprints found on porno mag. Michael says, "Just beat it"

For sale: The world's first off-road, redneck motorhome

Not all superheroes are created equal. In fact, some of them can be considered super dumb concepts.

And that's all for today.. have a great one!

TGIF Again...!

Well, I was up late last night watching my UCONN team get beat by 2 points by a much less talented UMASS team. *frown*
Well.. the first loss we had last year, was to the team that we defeated in the national championship game. Maybe we'll meet them again!

Other than that, not much new here.

I"m trying to set up a "Happy Hour" after work next week with all the guys from work. Everyone wants to do it, but nobody wants to start the ball rolling, so here I go.

No big plans for this weekend, except maybe to go shopping with my son for some clothes for Christmas.

Hey Bubba! Good to see you here bud! You ever going to blog again?
How about you Paul??

Hey Colin, did you ever make the Antipasto Squares yet?

Man.. if you're going to be compared with someone in the movies, make sure it's not Dobby, from Harry Potter!

Now here's a great video for you!

And now, a few Quotes about beer from some famous people:

Sometimes when I reflect on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Almost Friday again... thank goodness!

The Holiday Party last night was great. Lots of old friends quaffing beer and eating pizza, laughing and joking, even reminiscing about the "old days" of computers! *LOL*
This coming year will be our 20th anniversary. When we had our 15th, we made some really great polo shirts and sweatshirts with a cool graphic embroidered on them. This coming year, we'll have to do the same as we have some money left in the treasury from this year. It's a great bunch of guys.

I can't believe how fast the Holiday season is approaching.. and it'll be over just as quickly *sigh* No idea if anyone even wants to put up the tree this year.

Did anyone see, America's Oldest Teenager Dick Clark, had a stroke?

I have a friend of mine from Georgia that may be coming up on Saturday, so that'll be great. I do a lot of web-site work for him and we need to work on a completely new site for him.

Well, here's the news not fit to print:

Roadside billboard featuring naked woman on all fours considered potential driving risk (w/pic)

Screaming motorcyclist on hood of car apparently not important enough for driver to stop (Ok, check out the last sentence in this article.. methinks the driver's in for a whooping)

Carrie, how come you never told me...
Nudism is fastest growing sector of Canadian tourism!

Here's one for Aaron:
Collection of weird fortune-cookie fortunes. "That wasn't chicken"

Law of gravity apparently repealed. Man falls out of Mercedes' moon roof while driving

And now a "Clavinism" about beer:

One night at Cheers, Cliff Clavin explained the "Buffalo Theory" to
his buddy, Norm. "Well ya see, Norm, it's like this. A herd of buffalo can
only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it
is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This
natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed
and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the
weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as
fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know,
kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain
cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker
brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine ! That's
why you always feel smarter after a few beers............

And that's all for today... till the next wave!

Hump-Day again..

Yep.. the middle of the week already. Is your Christmas Shopping done?

I can't believe the temps here are still in the 50's again today! Normal temps are in the low 40's.. so we're going to have to pay for this.

As I said yesterday, here's a link to the tours we can take once in Costa Rica. Different tours are on the left, but this page shows a suspension bridge.. that... damn, I can't see the other side of! And me, afraid of heights! *gasp*

Well, it's official. IBM sold off their PC business to a company in China

My daughter's still really sad over her breakup.. and praying he comes to his senses. Me, I can go both ways. Yes, it'd be nice to have my baby's heart back in one piece.. but would I trust him not to break it again? *frown*

Tonight's my computer club's annual Christmas Soiree (Pizza and Beer). It's usually a really great time filled with jokes and laughter.. so I can't wait to go. You have to understand, I've been in this computer club for 14 years now. It started out as a Commodore 64 club, and has worked it's way up to a PC club. Nowadays, we meet more as a social thing. We have 4 pizza parties a year, just for the lasting friendship.

Well, work calls early this morning.. so here's the news not fit to print:

Here's one for Karen!
After buying 50 brand-new police cruisers, Salt Lake City city council waffles on whether to approve budget to recruit actual police officers to drive them!

John Finn, 95, the sole surviving Pearl Harbor Medal of Honor recipient, talks about shooting a .50 caliber at Zeroes 63 years ago (great story)

John Lennon saw aliens while in bed with Yoko Ono. Later, she put her clothes back on

And Two for Carrie..

Online school that gave cat an MBA is sued (Maybe PITA can get an MBA?)

Romanian PM offers to sleep with journalists' wives. Funny story!

Have a great day all..!

So much for my beautiful car detailing....

Yep, the weather went into the dumpster yesterday.. snowing in the afternoon, and this morning drizzling icicles down on my drive in to work. It's downright nasty today. Last night on the way home, there were accidents everywhere, many of them roll-overs.

Colin, what I meant on your blog was the link to the real cool planetarium site, which opens a new window without an address bar or anything, and because of your javascript that links everything, you can't just right click and bookmark the link. It's a catch-22. Can you have it open a window WITH an address bar and buttons like mine? Thanks.

I started looking at optional tours to take when we go to Costa Rica in February, and there are some astounding things to do! Most of them include some kind of "canopy tour" climbing up in the canopy of the jungle. Sounds incredible, but I wonder how I'll do as I'm afraid of heights. I'll post a link tomorrow to the site.

It's easy to look forward to a nice warm vacation when it turns cold and wintery here. 74 Days to go!

Hey Paul, you got any snow up there in Rockford yet??

And on to the news not fit to print:

Tomb full of decapitated bodies found in Pyramid of the Moon. Still no cure for lack of head

Ok, you can come up with your OWN caption for this picture!

And just for Carrie...
Canada's new $130,000 jeeps come with a cool feature: Pre-cracked floorboards. We tell'em to buy American but they never listen

Ok, this one I don't get (another for Carrie)
Canada purchases rights to "The Land of the Free" from USA

Paris Hilton insists she's not a party girl, despite drunken crappy blowjobs to the contrary

And ANOTHER for Carrie!

City sanitation workers rack up more than $7000 worth of personal calls on city-issued cell phones Will keep jobs because they weren't told in advance that it violated city policy (Hmm, they never told ME either!)

Kelly Osbourne says she only plays fat on TV. Also, Ozzy is actually charter member of MENSA

And this one's for you Aaron..
Looking for new ways to annoy the neighbors? How about three million Christmas lights visible from 80 miles away?

Paris Hilton arrives at Hollywood producer's party to find guests viewing her homemade porn (2nd story)

And for you pathetic die-hard Yankees fans, get your New York Yankees 2004 Al Champs sweatshirt

Have a great day all!

An Eventful Weekend for Sure...

Friday night we went out to dinner with 2 friends I used to work with at Chuck's Steak House, and had a wonderful time. I hope we can do it again soon as I so enjoy spending time with my friends from where I used to work.

Saturday, I took my truck in for the "Free" detailing they promised me. When I picked it up, it looked like a NEW truck. They even shsmpoo'd the interior and carpets.

Saturday night, it was the Christmas Party at Charlie's house with our friends Ray and Debbie. Now, Charlie is the head of this "Wine club" that Ray and Debbie belong to, and there's a bunch of real nice people in it. Charlie was nice enough to invite us to his house, as we've been to a couple of the wine events as guests of the hosts. Everyone brought at least 2 bottles of wine, so there was lots to try and enjoy, plus enough food for double the 20 people they had there. Everyone brought something, so I brought my famous Antipasto Squares that went over great.
About 2 hours into the party, Charlie said the 8 words I had waited to hear. "Do you want to see my wine cellar?"
So, about 10 of us go down his basement, and he opens the door to the specially made room. Three and a half walls of wine, floor to ceiling. At least 300 bottles with a square table in the middle, and a plastic tablecloth over it. Just enough room for the 10 of us around the table as Charlie starts grabbing bottles and opening them. From a 1986 Merlot, to wines I've never even heard of.. we must have open3ed at least 6 bottles before we figured we'd better get back upstairs.
All in all, it was a great party.

Sunday went pretty normally, until around dinner time when I went to get my daughter for dinner, and found her crying on her bed. Seems like her boyfriend of quite some time now, broke up with her. My baby's heart is shattered, and there's so little I can do to help. *sigh*

Bruce, call me this morning when you can please at work.

And now, the news not fit to print:

Colorado Rockies pitcher Danny Neagle arrested for speeding pantsless down highway with prostitute riding shotgun and occasionally him

Women goes to animal shelter to exchange frozen dog for new one

Ok, try to keep up:
Woman who was going to marry her boyfriend of 10 years until she found him boinking her daughter is now the mother-of-the-bride to girl who boinked her mother's boyfriend for two years before she found out

Proving that God is indeed merciful, Green Bay area churches change Christmas Eve mass times to accommodate Packer/Viking fans

Everything you wanted to know about Twinkies!

Ya know Carrie.. the weirdest things happen in Canada..
Irate hockey mom lifted her blouse, revealed her bra and taunted fans of the opposing team by shaking her breasts -- at her 11-year-old's hockey game

Ambulanceman tried to pick up prostitute

Godzilla fans refuse retirement for Japan's monster hero

And a couple of jokes, to start your day with a smile:

LITTLE girl in Church: "Why is the bride dressed in white?"
Mum: "White is the colour of joy, and today is most joyful day of her life."
Little girl: "Then why is the groom wearing black?"

WHAT do you give a woman who's got everything?
Penicillin.

And that's it for now... have a nice day.

TGIF My Friends!!!

Yep, Friday once more... meaning one week closer to Christmas, and we haven't done ANY shopping for the kids yet!!

78 Days till Vacation, and I'm counting them down.

I'm beginning to think the mind works in vastly different ways at night, than it does during the mornings. Last night, I had about a dozen good things to write about on the blog this morning, and this morning, I can't remember a one of them! *LOL*

I'll be working the whole day in the Farmington office setting up some new servers. It's part of a major project I have going on.

Carrie's comment about "Tire Money", made me think.. we used to get "S&H Green Stamps" when we got gas, or groceries long ago.. gas stations used to give out glasses.. what else can you think of that's gone away like that?

Oh well, here's the news not fit to print:

Always wanted a castle for you home?

And if you can't afford a castle, how about a cardboard box house?

Oh this is good.. Parents angry over game kids play at school where they choke each other until they faint

Yo, Bubba.. those guys down in TN are just too funny.

And for us geeks:

And of course, my Friday BOTD!

Have a great weekend all!

Almost Friday already..!

Yep, this week's flying by! I've been so darn busy with some projects that are going on.. plus people needing things done left and right.. it's unbelievable, but it's making the week whiz by.

Tomorrow night, going out to dinner as I mentioned, Saturday night to a Christmas party.. it's going to be a busy weekend!

What's everyone want for Christmas? Curt? Bruce? Bubba? Carrie? Karen? shmoops? michelle? Anyone else???

Hey Kev, do you still read my blog?

Well, not a lot of time this morning so here's the news not fit to print:

I KNEW this would happen!

Old lady leads police on a high-speed chase, at times reaching 15 mph, because she didn't think they were really cops

You might be a redneck: If you shoot mechanical deer from your truck, realize they ain't real, haul 'em away and stash 'em in a public park

Canadian ATM spits out Canadian Tire Money On a side note, what the heck is tire money?

Would you order a $10,000 Martini (with diamond in the bottom)?

And one for my son, who'll probably never see this:
University of Florida study decodes meaning behind body-altering tattoos, piercings. Mainly, that people who do it are screwing themselves out of a decent job

And that's the rest of the story.... Have a great day!

Hump-Day Already?

It's one of the darkest, most dismal days in recent memory. It's raining hard and this afternoon the winds are supposed to kick up real high. December is here.

I can't believe it's December already. There's 80 days till our vacation to Costa Rica, and I can't wait. I've been reading more reviews of the resort we're going to, and everyone raves about it. There's also one specific person that everyone raves about for doing off-site excursions, so I may get in touch with him and see what the packages are before going.

Then, next April will be our 25'th wedding anniversary.. and we're most likely going to Hawaii, unless she chickens out because of price. At one point, she wanted to go for only 5 days, and only the travel agent could convince her that's NOT enough time. Oh well, we'll see.

Did everyone see that it was last night that they had the Jeopardy where Ken Jennings finally lost?

How about the fact that Merriam-Webster says the #1 word of 2004 was "Blog". Go figure.

My friend Ray came over last night to watch the UCONN game.. they won VERY easily, 99 - 48. This Saturday, they have their first good test, playing Indiana. Duke still sucks.

And here's the news not fit to print:

Planetary parks proposed for Mars Go figure.

Chicago candy-maker creates beer-flavored chocolate. In other news, Dave anticipates gaining 50 pounds in 2005

And someone whow as LONG overdue for a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, finally got his. You go Godzilla!

You think Gas is expensive per gallon? Check out the prices of OTHER liquids!

Saturn set to roll out convertible model!

Police respond to 911 call from drunk redneck cowboy hanging from fence with pants around knees

Ok, this is a must see: C-5 Galaxy pilot can't see runway, decides to give I-564 a shot

Anna Benson, wife of Mets pitcher Kris Benson, claims she'll sleep with everybody on his team if she catches him cheating; Mike Piazza still a catcher

Well, that's all for today.. have a great Wednesday!
