Hump-Day

Well, last night was another "Basketball" night in our house, as we watched the game to see who the UCONN women would play on Sunday night. Turns out, the #1 team in the country got BEAT last night, so UCONN will play Minnesota. Ray came over for something else, and stayed to watch the game. We always have such fun watching good games like this one!

It's another grey/gray day outside... with rain pouring from the sky. I have my fingers crossed that by the weekend the weather will get nicer.

Here's an interesting story. The Thailand Prime Minister's daughter took a job at a local McDonalds for (US .60/hour), and wouldn't have been noticed if her famous dad hadn't showed up for take-out! *LOL*

My brother (Bruce) sent me the next two tidbits:

Remember from the Austin Powers Movie, the character "Fat Bastard"? Well then check this out!

Ever want to create your own band? Well now you can do it virtually!

I found this a couple of days ago.. but still laugh my head off when I go here! Click on "The One with The Matrix" video... it's hilarious!

Oh, and Sunday's reprint of Calvin & Hobbes is a classic!

And now, two more April Fools "Top 100's":

#3: Instant Color TV
In 1962 there was only one tv channel in Sweden, and it broadcast in black and white. The station's technical expert, Kjell Stensson, appeared on the news to announce that thanks to a newly developed technology, all viewers could now quickly and easily convert their existing sets to display color reception. All they had to do was pull a nylon stocking over their tv screen, and they would begin to see their favorite shows in color. Stensson then proceeded to demonstrate the process. Reportedly, hundreds of thousands of people, out of the population of seven million, were taken in. Actual color tv transmission only commenced in Sweden on April 1, 1970.

#4: The Taco Liberty Bell
In 1996 the Taco Bell Corporation announced that it had bought the Liberty Bell from the federal government and was renaming it the Taco Liberty Bell. Hundreds of outraged citizens called up the National Historic Park in Philadelphia where the bell is housed to express their anger. Their nerves were only calmed when Taco Bell revealed that it was all a practical joke a few hours later. The best line inspired by the affair came when White House press secretary Mike McCurry was asked about the sale, and he responded that the Lincoln Memorial had also been sold, though to a different corporation, and would now be known as the Ford Lincoln Mercury Memorial.

Have a great Wednesday!

Tuesday Morning Meanderings..

It's a grey morning here (I always forget, is it grey or gray?).. the sun's nowhere to be seen, though it may come out this afternoon.
Work's going to be real busy today with 2 meetings at the main office.
Watched the UCONN women destroy Penn State last night to earn a place in the Final Four. It'd really be something if both the men AND the women won the national championship!

Oh, and this is for Jim Furlong, one of only 2 ballot casters in the country that didn't vote Diana Taurasi for the First Team, All-American.
PHHHHHHHHHHHHHHTT!
I'm sure he knows now he screwed up! Idiot.

Ok, someone has too much time and too much money!

And we have here a nominee for the Darwin Awards!

Oh, and this, from the "Top 100 April Fools Jokes of All Time!":

#1: The Swiss Spaghetti Harvest
In 1957 the respected BBC news show Panorama announced that thanks to a very mild winter and the virtual elimination of the dreaded spaghetti weevil, Swiss farmers were enjoying a bumper spaghetti crop. It accompanied this announcement with footage of Swiss peasants pulling strands of spaghetti down from trees. Huge numbers of viewers were taken in, and many called up wanting to know how they could grow their own spaghetti trees. To this question, the BBC diplomatically replied that they should "place a sprig of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope for the best."

#2: Sidd Finch
In its April 1985 edition, Sports Illustrated published a story about a new rookie pitcher who planned to play for the Mets. His name was Sidd Finch and he could reportedly throw a baseball with startling, pinpoint accuracy at 168 mph (65 mph faster than anyone else has ever been able to throw a ball). Surprisingly, Sidd Finch had never even played the game before. Instead, he had mastered the "art of the pitch" in a Tibetan monastery under the guidance of the "great poet-saint Lama Milaraspa." Mets fans everywhere celebrated at their teams's amazing luck at having found such a gifted player, and Sports Illustrated was flooded with requests for more information. But in reality this legendary player only existed in the imagination of the writer of the article, George Plimpton

Have a great Wednesday!

Is the weekend over already???

It was a very quick weekend this time, as I was busy the whole time.

Saturday, my friend Ray came over and we watched both UCONN Men and Women win. The men are now in the Final Four in San Antonio TX, and the women play tonight for the chance to go to their Final Four.
The men play next Saturday against Duke, the team they beat for the 1999 National Championship. I've already got my fingers crossed!

Yesterday we went out to a "wine dinner" with Ray and his wife Debbie, and had the most unbelievable time. It was a 5 hour long, slow paced lunch/dinner with 5 star food and incredible wines. The people at our table (besides Ray and Debbie) were wonderful, we had met them once before and one of the women made me PROMISE I"d go to her house on May 1st for a wine tasting she's hosting there! *S* Needless to say, we'll be there.

Congrats to Aaron for buying a house this weekend! Seems like only yesterday I helped him move into his current place! *L*

Heya Kev, things are doing great.. how's things in Kuala Lumpur? Did you have a nice short holiday?

Rest In Peace, one of my favorite actors, Sir Peter Ustinov. I think my favorite memories of him are playing Hercule Poirot in Agatha Christie's mysteries.

Now here's an interesting concept. Using real women in advertising!

Canadian Prime Minister's jet buzzed bu UFO's! Hey Carrie, you seen any? No, not prime ministers!

Well, have a great Monday!

Friday at last!

UCONN won again last night, being Vanderbilt easily. Tomorrow however, may be another story as they play an incredibly good Alabama team. The bad news is, the game's at 4:30pm, and we're supposed to go out to dinner with some friends of my wife's. Decisions, decisions.

It's hard to believe it's color TV's 50th birthday. I can remember watching black&white TV when I was a kid (hey, the first color TV's were for the very rich) in the late 50's and early 60's. We had one of the first color TV's on the block.

Going to be a busy weekend, with the UCONN Women's game at 2:30, the mens at 4:30, somehow fitting in dinner with friends, and Sunday going to a "Wine Dinner" that goes from 1pm to 6pm with some friends. I need a nap just thinking about it! *laughing*

Ok, just reading this, you'll gain a few pounds! Reminds me of deep fried chocolate bars and the likes.

I don't know if any of you have ever been to APOD (Astronomy Picture Of the Day), but this one, is really nice!

If there's ever a good time to commit suicide, it's after crashing into an SUV following a multi-state police chase with your girlfriend's decapitated head riding shotgun

And finally... this picture speaks volumes! *L*

Enjoy your Friday and weekend!

Thursday.... almost Friday...!

It got up to almost 55 degrees here yesterday! Wow, what a change from last week when it was snowing. Supposed to get up in the low 60's in the next day or two.

Work's going to be very busy the next 2-3 days, as we're doing some construction at one of our sites and I'm moving people and equipment around so they can still do their jobs.

UCONN Men play tonight at 7:10, so my friend Ray will be coming over to root them on with me.

Weight-wise.... I'm actually down 13 pounds now! Checked myself this morning and was surprised to see another pound shed!

Yo, Bubba... how was your birthday bud?? Didja get a new tractor or something???

Now this is the strangest law...

Martha Stewart has already hired a personal assistant in jail! Now this is an odd story.

Ok, here's a place I do NOT want to visit!

On the other hand, this place sounds nice! *L*

And here's something, just for Karen.. *chuckling*

And a short joke to make you smile today:

An elephant asks a camel : " why are your breasts on your back ?"
" Well " says the camel , " I think it is a strange question from somebody who's dick is in his face"

Have a great Thursday!

Wednesday, the Hump-Day!

Well, the UCONN Women's Basketball team kicked butt last night against a very tough Auburn team (well, tough in the first half at least). The UCONN Men and Women are going to the "Sweet 16".

It looks like I've lost another couple of pounds.. *S* so I'm happy about that.

Work's doing ok, but I'm worried about a friend of mine in work that's being shit upon quite heavily by some of the powers that be, for doing a job too well. You see, where we work is filled with upper level management that keeps writing checks that nobody can cash. In other words, they say to other people "sure we can do that", when in fact, it can NOT be done. But then, when it can't be done, they blame us. They open their mouths, and don't ask questions, but dictate what we have to do to keep THEIR promises. Many times, it just can't be done. There's no teamwork there (between upper management and the workers), and it's quite frustrating.
In the meantime, good people like my friend, get it in the ass by unscrupulous idiots. Stuff like this REALLY bothers me.
Enough about this, it upsets me to think about it.

The weather's getting nicer, and Friday, it's supposed to get into the 60's!!! I can't wait.

Now, to lighten it up a bit.....

Jessica "Chicken of the Sea" Simpson Does It Again
According to a gossip columnist, "singer" Jessica Simpson, who once asked on her TV show "Newlyweds" "Is Chicken of the Sea tuna or chicken?" pulled another one Sunday while visiting the White House. The singer was allegedly introduced to Interior Secretary Gale Norton and gushed: "You've done a nice job decorating the White House." (Half way down on page.)

Stolen (without permission) from shmoopsie's blog, Dr. Who's coming back! I've always liked Dr. Who.. but it'll probably be a while before it makes it to the US again. (sorry shmoopsie)

How low can you POSSIBLY go??

Can you guess which ones are blonde?

And a toddler, shows up at school with $10,000 worth of cocaine??

And one last one.. and THIS is a classic! Do you see anything wrong here?

Have a great Wednesday.

Tuesday Mornings....

At least they're not as bad as Mondays!

Well, I feel a tiny bit better today. Actually went home and slept most of the afternoon. I think maybe I got food poisoning on Saturday night. All I know is it's not going away too quickly.

The weather's finally supposed to get nicer this week, maybe even up to the high 50's! Go figure. A week ago it was snowing all week.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUBBA! Hope ya have many, many more too!

Hey Kev, so, does going out to the Karaoke bar always make you feel better? I used to go all the time, was pretty good too.. but haven't been in ages now.

Now here's an idea I can do without!

And this one... is real cute!

Truth in Advertising?

And now, Dilbert's Theorem on Salary:

Dilbert's Theorem on Salary states that Engineers, Teachers, Programmers and Scientists can never earn as much salary as business
executives and sales people. This theorem can now be supported by a mathematical equation based on the following three postulates:

Postulate 1: Knowledge is Power (Knowledge = Power)
Postulate 2: Time is Money (Time = Money)
Postulate 3: (as every Physics student knows): Power = Work / Time

It therefore follows:

Knowledge = Work / Time
and since Time = Money,
we have: Knowledge = Work / Money

Solving for Money, we get:

Money = Work / Knowledge

Thus, as Knowledge approaches zero, Money approaches infinity, regardless of the amount of Work done.

Have a great Tuesday!

Mondays... blech!

Well, I'm not feeling well today, and it started Saturday night.
We went out to dinner with our friends Ray and Debbie at a nice enough place, I had steak and vegetables, and on the way home, I started getting some pretty bad stomach pains. It got so bad, I had to go straight home and let my wife take our friends home so I could make it to the bathroom. Just in time too.
Since then, my stomach hasn't been the same since, and this morning is pretty bad. I'm in work, but I may go back home as I really feel cruddy.

I watched a LOT of the NCAA Basketball Tournament this weekend, and of course my team(s) won! Both men and women advanced to the next round.

Had the family over yesterday for a belated "St. Patricks Day" feast of corned beef and cabbage. Good grief we must have had 20#'s of corned beef! *L*
There's plenty left over if anyone wants some.

Hey Kev, hope you're feeling better soon. I know how it feels *chuckle*

Now THIS, I'd like to see! *L*

Well, here's a good joke to start off your Monday morning (hoping everyone realizes I live in Connecticut):

Three men were sitting together bragging about how they had set their new wives straight on their duties.

The first man had married a woman from Massachusetts. He bragged that he had told his wife to do all the dishes and clean the house. He said that it took her a couple of days, but on the third day he came home to a clean house and the dishes were all washed and put away.

The second man had married a woman from Rhode Island. He bragged that he had given his wife orders that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes, and the cooking. He told the men that the first day he didn't see any results, but by the next day it was better, and on the third day, his house was clean, the dishes were done, and he had a huge dinner on the table.

The third man had married a Connecticut girl. He boasted that he told her his house was to be cleaned, dishes washed, the cooking done and laundry folded. And this was all her responsibility. He said the first day he didn't see anything and the second day he didn't see anything but by the third day some of the swelling had gone down so he could see a little out of his left eye!

Have a great Monday...

So much to talk about, so little time....

<RANT>
Ok, how much more clear can I make my voicemail. It says "Hi, this is Dave. If this is a computer related problem, please call the helpdesk at XXX-XXXX immediately as I do NOT check this voicemail often."
Now, even the brain dead can figure out to call the helpdesk.
But doctors?? Nope. Again, this morning, I had a call that "My monitor's not working, come look at it", and no call into the helpdesk.
ARRRRRRRRGHHHHHH!
</RANT>

I took a half day off yesterday, and got to watch some of the "March Madness" basketball games. Yes, I admit it, I'm a college basketball junkie, and watch as many as I can.

And it's STILL snowing since Tuesday! Got another couple of inches last night and it's still coming down.

THIS deserves a look at. It's Martha Stewart's letter to pals asks them to write letters prior to her sentencing about her "character" and "probity." Yeah right, she just doesn't want to be some prison dyke's "bitch" when she's in for over a year (as it looks right now).

Women, there are 27 types of men. Get your instruction guide here.

"The Donald", wants to copywrite the words You're Fired! Go figure.

Pabst Blue Ribbon is staging a comeback. Sorry, I'll pass on this trend.

Have a great weekend all!

March Madness Begins TONIGHT!

Yep, I'm a real big College Hoops fan. Tonight, my team, the UCONN Huskies plays Vermont and is a heavy favorite to win. My friend Ray will be coming over, and it'll be great. If they win, they'll play again Saturday night.

Hey, it looks like I lost another 2 pounds! Slowly but surely.....

Have you heard the story of the lady here in CT that's using the "BJ Defense" against accusers saying she was driving the car that killed her multimillionaire boyfriend? She says she was giving him "oral sex" while driving (guess that's why he hit the tree at over 100mph!)

Let me know how you do on this 80's Music Quiz I did about 80%

Now here's something pretty funny!

And THIS.. has to be embarassing! *L* An erection that lasted 6 days! I bet lots of women want to meet THIS man!

Here's something from a Dr. friend of mine:

FEMALE PRAYER

Before I lay me down to sleep,
I pray for a man, who's not a creep.
One who's handsome, smart and strong.
One who's loves to listen long.
One who thinks before he speaks.
When he says he'll call, he won't wait weeks.
I pray that he is gainfully employed.
When I spend his cash, he won't be annoyed.
Pulls out my chair and opens my door.
Massages my back and begs to do more.
Oh! Send me a man who'll make love to my mind,
Knows what to answer to "How big is my behind?"
I pray that this man will love me to no end,
And never attempt to hit on my friend. Amen.

MALE PRAYER

I pray for a deaf-mute nymphomaniac with huge boobs who owns a liquor store and a boat.
Amen.

Have a great Thursday!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Hoist yourself a Guinness today and Celebrate!!

We got a call last night and have two days to really get the house cleaned up for the appraisel from the bank. *groan* I hate going through these things.

We got about 4-5 inches of snow last night, which could have been worse, but the roads were AWFUL this morning.

I heard this story about frozen lobsters coming back to life on the news earlier this week, and it's pretty funny!

And now, an Irish joke (or two) for today:

An Irishman had been drinking at a pub all night. The bartender finally said that the bar was closing. So the Irishman stood up to leave and fell flat on his face. He tried to stand one more time; same result. He figured he'll crawl outside and get some fresh air and maybe that will sober him up.

Once outside he stood up and fell flat on his face. So he decided to crawl the 4 blocks to his home. When he arrived at the door he stood up and again fell flat on his face. He crawled through the door and into his bedroom.

When he reached his bed he tried one more time to stand up. This time he managed to pull himself upright, but he quickly fell right into bed and was sound asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

He was awakened the next morning to his wife standing over him, shouting, "So, you've been out drinking again!"

"What makes you say that?" he asked, putting on an innocent look.

"The pub called -- you left your wheelchair there again."

An Irish man shows up in a pub one day and orders three pints of Guinness. He takes sips from each glass until they are empty and calls the bartender for three more. The bartender says, 'Sure it's up to yourself, but wouldn't you rather I was bringing them one at a time? Then they'll be fresh and cold.'

'Nah...' your man says, ' I'm preferrin' that ye bring 'em three at a time. You see, me and me two brothers would meet at a pub and drink and have good times. Now one is in Australia, the other in Canada and I'm here. We agreed before we split up that we'd drink to each other's honour this way.'

'Well,' says the bartender, 'that's a grand thing to do, all right. I'll bring the pints as you ask.'

Well, time goes on and your man's peculiar habit is known and accepted by all the pub regulars. One day though, he comes in and orders only two pints. A hush falls over the pub. Naturally, everyone figures something happened to one of the brothers. A group of the regulars corner the bartender and finally persuade him to find out what happened. With a heavy heart, the bartender brings the two pints and says, 'Here's your pints... and let me offer my sincerest condolences. What happened?'

The Irish man looks extremely puzzled for a moment, and then starts laughing.

'Oh, no, no, no! 'Tis nothing like that. You see, I've given up drinking for Lent...'

Have a great day!

Tuesdays aren't much better...

Can you believe this.
The weather report, for March 16, says snow starting after noon, getting heavy and we're going to get 4" - 12" of snow by tomorrow morning!
They're already closing schools for the afternoon and the sun's still out!!!

Hopefully if the weather gets too bad after lunch, I'll just head on home a bit early. I've already got a bunch of extra time in for the last 2 weeks.

Hey Bubba, you done with them Kaizen's yet???

Paul, what's the new job about?

Karen, how's the new class?

Colin, you guys getting this snow too?

THE GUINESS MYSTERY FINALLY SOLVED!!! I can finally sleep at night!

Praises Allah! I've found a '83 TRS-80 Monitor!

Hey Bubba.... I thought it was only a rumor that you'd fish ANY hole with water!

Have a good Tuesday!

Mondays suck.....

Ray and Aaron came over Friday night to watch our UCONN Men's basketball team kick some butt, then on Saturday, Ray came over again and we watched UCONN win the Big East Tournament! Now, March Madness rolls in. A bunch of us are considering taking a half day off later this week to go to a pub and watch some basketball and eat some wings. Sign me up!

This weekend we did cleaning at home in preparation of our appraisal for the re-financing. I made a major dent in the basement, and put up a gym kinda thing we've had down there for a couple of years, just sitting there. Got it all together with the help of my son, and AFTER it was up I found the instructions! *L*

As for weight loss, I probably lost another pound, but where it REALLY shows is my waist. My jeans now, I can button them up and zip them, and pull them easily straight off! *S*

And now, Another reason I'm glad I didn't vote for Bush! *chuckle*

The top 10 movie/TV cars of all time!

Here's a good joke for Bubba to start out your Monday:

Jesus in the restaurant

An Irishman in a wheel chair entered a restaurant one afternoon and asked the waitress for a cup of coffee. The Irishman looked across the restaurant and asked, "Is that Jesus sitting over there?"

The waitress nodded "yes," so the Irishman told her to give Jesus a cup of coffee on him.

The next patron to come in was an Englishman with a hunched back. He shuffled over to a booth, painfully sat down, and asked the waitress for a cup of hot tea. He also glanced across the restaurant and asked, "Is that Jesus over there?"

The waitress nodded, so the Englishman said to give Jesus a cup of hot tea, my treat.

The third patron to come into the restaurant was a Redneck on crutches. He hobbled over to a booth, sat down and hollered, "Hey there, sweet thang, how's about gettin' me a cold glass of Coca-Cola!" He, too, looked across the restaurant and asked, "Is that God's boy over there?"

The waitress nodded, so the Redneck said to give Jesus a cold glass of coke, on my bill.

As Jesus got up to leave, he passed by the Irishman, touched him and said, "For your kindness, you are healed." The Irishman felt the strength come back into his legs, got up, and danced a jig out the door.

Jesus also passed by the Englishman, touched him and said, "For your kindness, you are healed." The Englishman felt his back
straightening up,and he raised up his hands, praised the Lord and did a backflip out the door.

Then, Jesus walked towards the Redneck. The Redneck jumped up and yelled, "don't touch me⬦ I'm drawin' disability!!!!!"

Have a great day...

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention...

I had my FIRST person yesterday ask me "have you lost weight!"

Made my day!

TGIF CUBED!

Thank God this week is over!

I went to a friends house after work yesterday to hook up her new DSL service to a brand new notebook PC she bought. After only one call to tech support (laughing) it was up and running fine! Speed was about 1.3 Megabit, so that's great, and she's happy with it.

I hear on the news this morning, that the United Nations is drafting a Resolution, condemning the bombings in Spain yesterday.
WHAT THE (excusemy language) F*CK is a resolution condemning the bombing going to do???? What kind of IDIOTS are in the UN????

You know, when they find that the vapors from microwave popcorn is bad.. there's something wrong!
Now my biggest weakness is popcorn (as some of you may know). and it's killed me to not have it during this diet so far. (actually, I can have small amounts now, it's not that much carbs).

And yet, another reason to drink beer!

Have a great weekend!

Almost Friday...

Well, today was the last day for a while I have to work near that psycho hosebeast lady from earlier in the week.. thank GOD!

The sun's out again, though we're supposed to get more crummy weather tonight or tomorrow I think.

Did I mention, my brother bought a brand new car. Had it a week or two, then the dealer calls him. "Oh darn, we gave you the WRONG car!" Seems they had 2 identical cars on the lot, paperwork is for the other one! So, they ask, how many miles do you have on the car. He says 350, and they tell him to bring it back and they'll give him the new one! *LOL* Go figure... cheaper to give him the new one than change all the paperwork.

Monday's blog will be a bit late, as I have a lot to do and am coming in early to do it.

Ok, this is pretty "politically wrong", it's funny anyways!

A lady tried to buy $1600 worth of stuff at Wal-Mart with a million dollar bill???

I heard when Bubba first got indoor plumbing, he had to inspect it hisself!

Then I heard Bubba tell Gomer at the gas station he wanted a truck that sat WAY up high...

Oh, one last thing Bubba.... these are NOT edible! *S*

Happy Thursday all!

Hump-Day...

Ever since I was little, I've been a voracios reader. Then, I started hanging out with the wrong crowd. Nowadays, I go through spells of reading everything within reach, and nothing. I now spend time bettering myself in other ways. Most of the time now though, I at least read the newspapers (2 local) every day. I wish my kids would do that.

We finalized the refinance last night.. hoping for a closing date late next month! Going to feel good knowing I won't be 70+ years old and still paying on the house! *L*

Ok, is this pilot error, or groundspeople?

Ever see an SR-71 pass gas?

And I hear United is now doing tours of the Golden Gate Bridge!

Hey Bubba, I got the picture of your Christmas Lights finally!

Yak atcha all later!

Tuesday, March 09, 2004

Ok Ok... I'm back!

I had some work to do at the main facility here this morning, so I just got to my desk.

Have I mentioned, that there are some I work with, that are COMPLETE idiots?? Aaron will tell you. People with levels of stupidity that soar with eagles (or vultures).
I had a run-in with one this morning that wouldn't let me set up for a trade show here. When she told me "you shouldn't talk to me that way, I'm not your peer"..... well, if she could hear my thoughts.... *L*
As it is, I told her I didn't care about that, only about getting the job done and she hindering it. She's a person that thinks she's "Queen of Everything", when in fact she's nothing. My bosses know who she is and what she's like.

Well, we started the process of re-mortgaging our house, for 15 instead of 30 years. The interest rate is so low, that we have the same payments as before! We have to finish up the paperwork tonight and should be all set.

The grass is covered with snow again, but luckily there wasn't enough to coat the roads, as they were too warm from days in the 50's.

No donuts on Sundays???

I sure don't want to check THIS baggage!

Have a good Tuesday!

Monday, March 08, 2004

It's SNOWING again! *groan*

Yep, it's snowing like heck out right now.. luckily, it's not supposed to amount to much.

It's been a good weekend, especially considering I lost another 3 pounds! *S* That makes 8#'s total, and I get to add 5 more carbs this week.

I might take a half day off today, as we might just re-mortgage the house! Interest rates are so low, that we can cut the length of our mortgage in half (to 15 years), and pay just about the same thing! It all depends on what the rates are this morning.

Hey Paul, how'd the new job end up? Going to take it?

I watched "The Soprano's" for the first time last night and found it hilarious! "effing this, and effing wack that guy".. if it weren't so popular, it'd be funny. Does ANYONE think the mob people really talk like this??? Good grief.. it's more like a parody! If I were of Italian decent, I'd be ticked off at it!

Ok, at a school sewing class, you can't bring your own scissors??

If you feed cows chocolate, what kind of milk do they give??

Well, more if I think of it!

Friday, March 05, 2004

TGIF!

Well, I had to run to another office this morning and do some work with Aaron, and I'm finally back in my office.

Looks like we may have some snow one more time this season, as the forcast is for some maybe Sunday night.

I'm not so sure the diet's working... I'm not losing any more weight.. and may have even gone up one pound. The book actually says there are some people that won't lose weight on this diet... I may be one of them *frown*

Hey Bruce, some of us WORK you know! *L*

and now, a joke for your Friday...

A married couple is driving down the interstate doing 55 mph.
The husband is behind the wheel. His wife looks over at him and says, "Honey, I know we've been married for 15 years, but, I want a divorce."

The husband says nothing but slowly increases speed to 60 mph.

She then says, "I don't want you to try to talk me out of it, because I've been having an affair with your best friend, and he's a better lover than you."

Again the husband stays quiet and just speeds up as he clenches his hands on the wheels.

She says, "I want the house." Again the husband speeds up, and now is doing 70 mph.

She says, "I want the kids too." The husband just keeps driving faster, and faster, until he's up to 80 mph.

She says, "I want the car, the checking account, and all the credit cards too." The husband slowly starts to veer toward a bridge overpass piling, as she says, "Is there anything you want?"

The husband says, "No, I've got everything I need right here."

She asks, "What's that?"

The husband replies just before they hit the wall at 90 mph,

"I've got the airbag!"

Have a great weekend.

One more day till Friday!

You know, when you're on a diet, you see things you normally wouldn't see.
Take today for example.
I walk into the cafeteria to put away something, and there's a box full of wrapped "Honey Buns" on the table, free from the vending people as they'll expire in a few days.
You can imagine how pissed off I was.. *chuckling*

Oh, I called the college yesterday, told her how disappointed I was at the cancellation, and to make a long story short, they're going to try to find another instructor and have the class again! I hope they do.

I love when people (read: bigwigs) don't read their email.
I had a request recently from the grand poobah of this facility if I had an extra network printer. I replied in email, that yes, indeed I had one I could drop off this week.
Yesterday, I sent her the serial # to make sure the asset was moved from point A to point B, and she replied "I thought we had to buy one! I just dropped the paperwork off to finance to buy one!"
To which, I resent the original email explaining I had said I had one.
Another example of someone pissing away the State's money.

I went to a "Pizza & Beer" party for a club I belong to last night, and really behaved. Drank diet soda (ok, had a half a glass of beer), and a lot less pizza than I normally would have had.

Some personal audio tapes of Princess Diana are coming to light now, and after reading some excerpts of them, I'm stunned at what a 'sacraficial lamb" she was to the royal family.

Lionel Richie's wife is suing for divorce, and asking for $300,000/month. She says she spends $15,000/month in clothing!!! $3,000 for "dermatology"?? $1,000 for laser hair removal? Give the lady a BIC and tell her to buzz off!
The article goes on to say: "each month she spends $600 on hair, $250 on nails, $150 on electrolysis, $450 on facials, $500 for her trainer and $600 each on Pilates, massages, and therapy. "
I'm confused, isn't eloctrolysis the same as hair removal??
There's MORE!
Diane Richie also lists yearly expenses of $20,000 for plastic surgery and $125,000 for tuition at her 9-year-old son's Colorado boarding school, which she says she tries to visit at least once a month -- at a cost of between $15,000 and $20,000
$20,000/year for Plastic Surgery??? She can only see her 9 year old son once a month???

I want to go to Bike Week this year!!!

Ok.... this one defies description! *L*

And just to prove there are some incredible idiots in this world, I offer proof!

Till the next wave....

Oh well.... another day

Well, as excited as I was when I got home yesterday looking forward to the Martini Madness class, my bubble burst when I checked the answering machine and heard a woman's voice say that the class had been cancelled (not moved to another day) because of a family emergency for the teacher. Oh, and they'll refund my money in 4-6 weeks.
Talk about being deflated.....
Then I called Dave, he hadn't heard cause his wife didn't want him to find out about his Christmas present. I played the answering machine for him and we decided instead to go out to get some wings and drinks for dinner. So it wasn't a complete bust, but a disappointment anyways.
I'm going to call today, but I don't think they're going to reschedule.

In case you lost it, Here's the link to the Mars Rover(s) website

My brother sent me this pretty cool dart game

Now, you really have to read this, but this is a strange story!

Well, have a great day all!

Ok Ok, so I'm late...

It's been a real busy day already. I was in early doing some work and got carried away.

Ever had one of those days where you've just run out of energy?? Today's one of them.

Tonight's the big Martini Madness class and I can't wait! Hopefully we get to drink what we make! *L*

Hey Bruce, do you still read the blog???

At least the weather's starting to get nicer.... was almost at 60 yesterday, and could be there today too. I'm ready for summer!

I'm still looking for a vacation for April or May... looks like Europe is the only thing that's on sale! Go figure.

One quick link. Will people ever get a CLUE and stop reading things into nothing!

Have a great day.

Monday, Monday...

Weekends are just NOT long enough!

Today marks 2 weeks on my diet, and I've still only lost 5-6 pounds. One thing though, I can definitely feel my waist is smaller as I'm going to places on my belt I haven't seen before *L*

Went to my brother-in-law's 40th birthday party Saturday night, and he and his wife are both on the Atkins diet. He's lost 40 pounds, and she's lost... get this... 140 pounds! Course, she was really really heavy before, but she looks fantastic! Seems everyone there was on it...
Oh, and I tried one of those "Michelob Ultra" beers... low carb... It should say NO FLAVOR!. Good grief it's awful *blech*
Someone at the party put it aptly "It tastes like the swill when you rinse out the bottle"

I bought a loaf of "low carb" bread by a big-name bakery... and tried a half slice and it's actually excellent! So.... starting tomorrow, I can have one piece of toast for breakfast *YIPPEE!*

Hey, it's supposed to get up to 60 degrees today!! WHOO HOO! Hopefully the last of the snow will melt.

Tomorrow night is my "Martini Madness" class I got for Christmas from my friend Dave and his wife! He and I are going to go and learn to make all kinds of different Martini's! I can't wait, should be a blast!

Well, not much more right now as I'm pressed for time, but here's a joke to start your Monday!

WORDS WOMEN USE
******************************
FINE
This is the word women use to end an argument when they feel they are right and you need to shut up. Never use "fine" to describe how a woman looks - this will cause you to have one of those arguments.

FIVE MINUTES
This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so it's an even trade.

NOTHING
This means "something," and you should be on your toes. "Nothing" is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards. "Nothing" usually signifies an argument that will last "Five Minutes" and end with "Fine"

GO AHEAD (With Raised Eyebrows! )
This is a dare. One that will result in a woman getting upset over "Nothing" and will end with the word "Fine"

GO AHEAD (Normal Eyebrows)
This means "I give up" or "do what you want because I don't care" You will get a "Raised Eyebrow Go Ahead" in just a few minutes, followed by "Nothing" and "Fine" and she will talk to you in about "Five Minutes" when she cools off.

LOUD SIGH
This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot at that moment, and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing"

SOFT SIGH
Again, not a word, but a non-verbal statement. "Soft Sighs" mean that she is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe, and she will stay content.

THAT'S OKAY
This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you back for whatever it is that you have done. "That's Okay" is often used with the word "Fine" and in conjunction with a "Raised Eyebrow."

GO AHEAD!
At some point in the near future, you are going to be in some mighty big trouble.

PLEASE DO
This is not a statement, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance with the truth, so be careful and you shouldn't get a "That's Okay"

THANKS
A woman is thanking you. Do not ! faint. Just say you're welcome.

THANKS A LOT
This is much different from "Thanks." A woman will say, "Thanks A Lot" when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have offended her in some callous way, and will be followed by the "Loud Sigh." Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the "Loud Sigh," as she will only tell you "Nothing"
