And the news isn't good...

Well, the doctor examined my dad really well yesterday, and was shocked that the first operation didn't add more skin/muscle to his upper jaw.
He believes the only way to fix this, and close the hole in his cheek (which has gotten quite large now), is to do a long operation involving "Micro surgery", which may last 8-10 hours. In order to do this, my dad must gain some serious weight. In order to gain weight, he has to have a feeding tube put in, as he's not getting enough content through his mouth. He recommended a great plastic surgeon to do the operation, but admitted that this was the most difficult operation he's ever seen for this type of operation. Oh boy. Everyone's quite nervous about this, and dad is going today to get the feeding tube inserted.
All in all... he's in for a rough road. Keep your fingers and toes crossed.

That's all really to say today... on to the news:

Old and busted: Runaway Bride making profit. New hotness: Runaway Bride feeding the homeless

Just to set the record straight, Tom Cruise tells German reporter that he believes in aliens. German reporter says he better get to interview David Hasselhoff to make up for being stuck with this wackadoodle

Woman wins epic court battle to flash her breasts whenever and wherever she damn well pleases

Asshat woman lets her dog take a dump on the subway, tells passengers to F-off when they tell her to clean it up. Never say F-off to people with cam phones and blogs. You'll lose every time

And something just for you Bob...:
Canadian mosquito capital seeking to introduce dragonflies to help destroy voracious mosquito population. Future plans include introducing frogs to get rid of the dragonflies

Holy Moly!
Thai fishermen hit the jackpot when they catch, and then eat, a record 646-pound catfish - No noodling involved (pic goodness)

Ok, I'm up I'm up..!

It felt SO good to sleep in this morning! *S*

I leave in about an hour to go with my dad to see the new Oncologist. Keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the warm wishes for my dad yesterday in the comments. They're much appreciated.

And... I'm glad I got you all to laugh at the late post yesterday! *S* I'll do that again soon... maybe for my regular post! *L*

The wife and I are looking at Fall vacations... we got an email from our friends in Alabama, asking us to go on a cruise with them in October. We're thinking about it...!

Now, for a laugh from my email:

Four Catholic ladies are having coffee together, discussing how important their children are.

The first one tells her friends, "My son is a priest. When he walks into a room, everyone calls him "Father.".

The second Catholic woman chirps, "Well, my son is a bishop. Whenever he walks into a room, people say, 'Your Grace'."

The third Catholic woman says smugly, "Well, not to put you down, but my son is a cardinal. Whenever he walks into a room, people say 'Your Eminence'."

The fourth Catholic woman sips her coffee in silence. The first three women give her this subtle "Well...?"

She replies, "My son is a gorgeous, 6'2", hard-bodied, well-hung, male stripper. Whenever he walks into a room, women say, "My God...."

And now, the news:

Baby girl weighs in at 14 pounds! Parents nickname her "The Big Enchilada"

Now this is a good one:
Man spends 18 hours next to "Girlfriend Wanted" sign. Gets 93 phone numbers

And a really good headline:
Japanese firm assembles 18K gold bathtub, worth more than £600 million. Working on golden shower next

Now THIS... is one of the best today!
Private developer is seeking to use new eminent domain ruling to build hotel on Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter's land

I want to be a member of the California Highway Patrol!!!
Look at the car they replaced the Camaro Chase Cars with!!! PORSCHES!

That's all for today... enjoy!

Another Grey Day in Paradise.....

It was pouring rain out when I came into work this morning... and we need the rain. It's been dry for quite a while now.
Tomorrow, the blog will be late as I'm taking the day off to take my dad to a new Oncologist.
I've been in work early today and yesterday and did some patching on my file servers here. It's nice being here before anyone else.. gives me peaceful time to get work done.

Hey shmoopsie, where have you been? I haven't seen you in ages.

You know, it's been almost 4 years that I've worked here, and some days, I feel like it's still the first month. You have no idea about "politics in the workplace", until you work for the State Government.

The NBA draft is tonight.. and one of our UCONN Huskies should go at around #10. Last year, we had #2 and #4 I believe. Should be interesting to watch.

Not much else to say today.. so on to the news:

Tiring Weekend Indeed.....

Where do I start???

Friday night, the wife and I got in the Vette and took a ride to the "Berlin Turmpike", a long, straight road known for many years for cool car cruising.. where they had a "Cruise Night" at a local Hooters Restaurant. Once there, we walked around and looked at all the nice cars (there were 24 Vettes there), and just hung out for a bit, before leaving and meeting Aaron and his daughters for an ice cream (it was only a few miles to his house).

Saturday, I got up early, washed the Vette and drove it to a friend's house about 25 miles away. Gil is the guy I bought my first Vette from, and I hadn't told him about this one yet. His eyes bugged out when he saw mine, and loved it! We talked for a bit, then I headed out to a large car show only about 2 miles from his house. I paid the $5 admmission for my car, and parked it.. and wiped off any bugs that accumulated on the front. Walking around, I saw a lot of beautiful cars, and met some nice people. I picked up my "goodie bag" when I registered, and upon looking inside, there was at least $25 worth of goodies, including a full sized bottle of Meguires Quik Detailer, that alone was worth about $8. The day began getting incredibly hot and humid (was supposed to be one of the hottest of the summer), so I left after about 1.5 hours. All in all, I had a great day.

Yesterday, it was the usual go to see mom and dad.. he's doing a lot better now, ever so slowly gaining weight. At about 5:30pm yesterday, the power went out in half the house (including A/C and stove). Turns out, half of the 220 coming into the house was gone, so only one side of the circuit panel was working, and it was VERY hot yesterday too. So, after quite a few calls to the power company, they came out around 9pm to fix it. Seems a wire had broken from pole to pole.
By 11, the power was back, and I took a quick shower but then couldn't sleep as I was so refreshed from the shower! So... I got to sleep after midnight, and for some ODD reason my alarm woke me up about 30 minutes early and I didn't know it till I walked out the door *frown*.
So... I need a nap badly today.

And now, the news:

Mid-Morning Addition...

Remember Statler and Waldorf, the heckling ole geezers from The Muppet Show?

They have their own movie review section (video) on this website!
This week, they review War of the Worlds, and Bewitched, and Pepe, the French speaking Muppet reviews new DVD's out.
Check it out... you'll love it!

TGIF! (and a sweatbox it'll be!)

Thank Goodness it's Friday! It's been a long week for sure.

This weekend, it's supposed to get VERY hot and humid. Tomorrow, it'll get to 95+ with very high humidity.. should feel about 105! (sure Paula... nice weather huh! *chuckling*) Thank GOD for Air Conditioning!

Tonight, there's a "Cruise Night" put on by Hooters and a local Corvette club named "The No Rules Corvette Club". I may go tonight to meet some of the guys... not positive. Last night, I waxed at least a small part of the Vette. Damn there's a LOT of surface area on that car! Holy moly!

As I write this, the internet's gone down at work. You never realize just HOW much you use something till it's gone.
I can't read the news at CNN, get my humorous stories for my news, even post THIS till it comes back up. Go figure.

Has anyone but me been reading "Simon of Space", the blog posted at bottom left? Damn what a great story!!!

(did everyone notice... Karen immediately spotted and commented on the headline yesterday about the guy with the big balls? *chuckling*)

Hey, and even Bubba posted a comment yesterday! But where's Colin been????

Well, on to the news (I know you've been waiting for it!)

Finally, an upscale hotel that can let your date get in touch with her inner whore

Weather Forecast: GORGEOUS!

Yep, today's supposed to be one of the BEST days of the year as far as weather goes! Bright sunshine, warm temps... low humidity... perfect!
No, I left the Vette home *chuckling*. I have to go to Farmington today (groan), and it'd be parked WAY far away from where I work.. so no way.

Dad is home, and resting comfortably!

I'm still hoping to go to a car show on Saturday, but it's supposed to be REAL hot! That show is about 25 miles from my house, and on Sunday, there's a show in my town I may go to. I really love seeing all the old cars.. brings back memories.
Yes Trucker Bob, I'm an ole fart. I have a 23 year old daughter, and a 20 year old son.

What's wrong with this statement that was in the news:
Missing Utah Boy Scout's biggest fear was being abducted, especially since he knew how many Scoutmasters were looking for him

Other than that, it should be a gorgeous weekend I hope.

I don't know if this news story made the national news, but it's hilarious. A 20 year old flight student stole a plane with 2 friends, landed in the dark at a Westchester NY airport, and when they opened the door, "significant beer cans fell out" *LOL*.

I'm running late today, so on to the news:

And now, just some hilarious headlines:

Some Good News, Some Bad News...

The good news is:

My dad's coming home today! Yep, he looks a LOT better than when he went in the hospital, he's eating a lot better, and he's happy to be going home. I just hope he keeps eating well at home.

Secondly, I paid off the Corvette yesterday! No more loan on it, I own it outright!!!

On the bad news side:

My bud Curt had a NASTY fall in work, and broke his shoulder. From what he told me, he tripped over one of those area rugs they put in offices that are either for wiping snowy boots on (hardly likely in North Carolina in June), or to hide a stained or ripped carpet. Well, one end was riding up, and he hit it and down he went. The ball part of his arm where it goes into the socket broke in 4 pieces. He was shipped to Charlotte, and operated on to repair it, but he'll be out of work for at least 6-8 weeks. He's recouperating at home, and he told me he has one of those chairs that when you "mash the button", it helps you out of the chair! *LOL* (I love the term "Mash the button")
Get well soon bud....
(Thanks to Bubba for emailing me Curt's phone #)

My daughter (the school teacher) is off for the summer. I envy her.... but she's worked through the summer since she's been 16, so she deserves some rest.

Has anyone seen the outstanding deals going on for Disney World lately? They're running a deal right now, 5 nights, 6 days at a value resort, park tickets and the meal plan, for $459! Air is coming out to $182 round trip for a non-stop flight! The wife and I may go... even if just to relax and walk around seeing old favorites.

Well, work's calling, so on to the news:

Human Pac-Man... who'da thunk!

Here's a link for Aaron:

Alligator caught in creek. Its only really newsworthy when it happens in Massachusetts

And here's a GREAT story!

That's all for today... enjoy your day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARON!

Yes, it's my bud Aaron's Birthday today! Hope you have a very happy one bud!
Here's a copy of a card I sent him! (I have a real card for him too...)

My good bud Curt, who writes "My Life in Paradise" in the bar at left, seems to have had a serious accident at work. Your kind thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated. All I know is what was written in my comments yesterday " dave... had bad accident at work... more later... just got back from week in hospital.. more later"
Curt, if you read this, get well soon bud. I'm going to search my addresses and see if I have your home phone # and call you tonight bud. If you get here, leave me your phone #, or send it to my work email (hope you have it at home).

Dad Report:
I stopped to see my dad after work last night, and he actually looks better. He's actually eating better in the hospital than he does at home, and he's actually "hungry", something he's seldom at home. Either way, his eyes are bright again, he doesn't look as emaciated as the last few days.. and we're all hoping.
Seems his cheek was infected, and the IV antibiotics have taken care of that.
He has another test today I think, then if that goes well, they'll send him home.
He has a doctors appt with a new doctor (Oral Surgeon) next week, and I'll be going with him. Keep your fingers crossed.

Yesterday was my friend Dave's birthday.. and we went out to dinner with his wife, daughter and him to a place that makes outstanding Spinach Pies. Afterwards, we had cake at their house and a great time was had!

Seems like a busy week this week, and work is not cooperating by being the tiniest bit easy.

I'm thinking about going to this car show this weekend with the Vette. Hope the weather's nice

Well, now on to the news:

Who'da thunk...

Saddam has reportedly been very friendly with U.S. troops, engaging in small talk and eating Raisin Bran. News story also features picture of Saddam posing as Kramer from Seinfeld

Mondays Suck..... and bad news

While having lunch on Friday, I got a call from my brother that my dad was rushed to the hospital, not being able to eat, drink and having a hard time breathing, besides not being able to walk well.
I left work a bit early, and went to the hospital where he was still in the emergency room at almost 3pm, after arriving at about 9:30am.
Skipping to the main stuff, he got admitted, he's still in there now and breathing better, though, to see him... you'd be amazed at how skinny he is.
We went to see him yesterday for Fathers day.. and his spirits are up a bit.. but I'm still worried about him.
One of the nurses started talking to him about a feeding tube and he REALLY doesn't want that.. although it'll help him gain weight and get stronger. So, we're trying to talk him into it, and I believe the doctor will talk to him today about it.

Moving along... other than that, the weekend was not too bad. Went to the wine tasting Saturday night, did what is called a "vertical tasting", where the same wine, but different vintages are tasted. This time, it was an Oregon Pinot Noir, years 2000, 2001 and 2002. The difference between them were startling.

For Fathers Day, my daughter got me a beautiful Corvette hat that I wanted, and my son mentioned that he has something on order for me.

Too tired to continue this morning, so I'm going straight to news:

Actual letter from cheerleaders caught pooping on pizza

New York hopes to attract more beer drinkers by offering a beer trail, vacation itineraries, 'I Love NY Beer' bumper stickers

Two F-15E crews pick on Eurofighter, get asses handed right back

The Coolest RV Pictures you'll EVER see!

Thats' it for today... enjoy...

TGIF, and a short rant...

Thank goodness it's Friday! Happy Fathers Day to all you fathers out there!

The weather's supposed to be great this weekend... and I'm going to be busy it seems every minute of it!

Remember the saga of the wine I got for Christmas from a doctor that was so good? I found out they have more at the store, and am making a trek there to pick up another 8 bottles or so this weekend!

Rant
A few years back, when I purchased my first domain name, I went through a company named Network Solutions, one of the largest domain registrars in existence. This is ONLY the company that keeps track of the domain name, and makes sure nobody else can take it, don't confuse them with a hosting company that holds your website.
A few months ago, I purchased a new domain name, and went through GoDaddy.com. They were incredibly cheaper to do exactly the same thing. We're talking one fifth the price of Network Solutions. ($7/yr at GoDaddy, $34.95/yr at NetSol)
About a month ago, knowing the first domain name was due to expire (unless I sent more money), I began the process to transfer the domain name from Network Solutions to GoDaddy. I had to call them, to start the process, and during the call, this is what happens:
(NetSol) "Mr. C, why are you leaving?"
(Me) "One fifth the price to do the same thing at GoDaddy.com".
(NetSol) "Mr. C, if you stay with Network Solutions we'll drop the price 50%".
(Me) "No".
(NetSol) "How about if we give it to you for $9 per year for 10 years?"
(Me) "NO!"
(NetSol) "Why?"
(Me) "Because you should have offered me that ratet FIRST, not try to sucker me into the almost $35/year rate! What about all the people that you don't give this "special" rate to? It's unfair, and it's a horrible business practice! Offer the lowest rate ALL THE TIME, or don't offer at all!"

Idiots

Last night, I called to cancel a credit card... and they pulled the same crap on me! Because the card is attached to an airline frequent flier program, they offered me lots of incentives to stay. I gave that person the same story.. offer it to everyone, don't treat one special over another.

On to the news:

Careful Carrie and Karen!
Police respond to emergency call by smashing in front door after getting no response from inside the home. Call had been made by the family cat

First woman chosen to fly an Air Force Thunderbird!

Pac Man turns 25 this month.. VERY interesting article! (only ONE person has ever beat the game!)

Britney invites Disney bosses to hotel room, welcomed by husband Cletus watching porn

Goodyear blimp tries to take off in thunderstorm, drops in on Red Lobster for dinner (pic)

And now... My BOTD!...!

And One more!

Have a great weekend all....!

Rain, Rain everywhere....

Yep, the weather broke, it was no higher than 65 yesterday, and looks the same today, except for the rain. Kinda makes me wish I had worn a long sleeved shirt today.. *chuckle*

Ever notice what today we pay for, that used to be "free"?
Broadcast TV
Yep, we never paid for Cable, or Sattelite TV.. we watched using a piece of metal on our rooves called an antenna. Sometimes the picture was snowy, but it was still a marvel. Nowadays, we pay quite a bit of money for 150 channels of digitally enhanced television, when in fact we can only watch one at a time.

Air for our tires at service stations
Yep, today, they charge us a quarter for air. Go figure. Used to be at a gas station, that an attendent used to put it in for you too!

Glasses in your clothes-washing detergent
Of course, all detergent back then was powdered too. Nowadays, you don't get a thing free from them.

Where am I going with this?
I was thinking, after watching an "XM Radio" commercial last night, that I wonder if broadcast radio is eventually going to go the way of broadcast TV.
Think about it.... we may all have to pay for our radio in the future.

Just something my idle mind thought about.

On to the news:

Glue spill on highway slows traffic. In other news, some headlines write themselves

Teacher in trouble after insisting that he needed all of his female students to go topless. For instructional purposes, of course

Man says that he cut off his penis because he could not keep up with the insatiable sex demands of his wife

This is the MUST SEE of the day! (my brother sent me this a few days ago)
Triumph The Insult Dog is back and he has a boy to pick with Michael Jackson fans (hit Watch Now on page)

Enjoy your day...

Finally, the weather broke!

Yep, it's about 59 degrees here this morning, and it's going to be about 20 degrees cooler today than the last 2 weeks have been, along with less humidity.
Along with this change though, comes lots of clouds. It's a VERY gray morning!

Hmm, I always wondered about the difference between "grey" and "gray", but dictionary.com says there's no difference. Go figure.

I found this HUGE video yesterday, and thought it was hilarious! Warning, it's about 10MB in size, but well worth the download.

I'm going to be removing "The Darth Side" from the links at left, and replacing it with this link, to his new net-novel, Simon of Space. This guy is one of the most prolific writers I've EVER seen!

Oh, we're going to a wine tasting on Saturday for the wine club we belong to... anyone have a great idea for an appetizer we can bring?

Happy Flag Day!

Not much else to report on... so on to the news (Karen, don't drink anything from here on!):

And with a MUST see...
Britney Spears and Cletus Federline wild new sex tape (not safe for work, but you know you'll watch it anyways)

Leave it to Jesse James...
Engineers build flying car that works; hope to get onto cover of Popular Science, be taken seriously this time

Ok, for all you REAL cheap people out there...
Engineering students show how to make your own A/C for $30

Driver hears noise, looks back to see motorcyclist lying in bed of his pickup truck

Another reason, Aaron, why we don't need robots at our hospital workplace!
Hospital robot goes berserk causing doctor and patient to flee, searches for Sarah Connor

That's all for now.. have a great day all..!

More HHH today...

Yep, more Hazy Hot and Humid today.
It's about 70 degrees out this morning, but the humidity makes it so sticky. There may be a break in the heat on Thursday (we hope).

Hey Bob, now you're making me feel bad man.... I've poked fun at Canadiens as long as Carrie's visited my blog (way over a year). It's all good-natured fun, and everyone knows it's all in fun.

Last night the sun was just setting, and it was cooling off a bit, and the wife and I took a nice ride in the Vette... perfect 'cruising' weather. Only a 30-40 minute ride, but it was great.

Oh, thanks michelle for reminding me... my back is about 98% better now, having gotten better slowly over the weekend.

Did I mention, a few weeks ago, my mother fell and cracked 3 ribs? Good grief... going to have to put her on training wheels! Doesn't stop her from going out with her girlfriends though.. she went to the movies yesterday to see Mr and Mrs Smith, and didn't like it (should have known, too much action for her). My mom's always been a tough ole bird. Whem my brother and I were kids, and were playing any kind of game outside and needed another player, she'd be right there (dad was always working). She's always been a cranky "my way or no way" kinda lady... but she's mom! *LOL* And she picks on my dad mercilessly! I think if those two didn't fight like cats and dogs, they'd die of boredom.

This is good, a market research firm took polls, and found the top 10 cars for men and women. Some are surprising:

The Three H's

Yep, the three H's that you don't want to hear on the weather forecast, Hazy, Hot and Humid. It's been that way for over a week now, with temps in the 90's, and extremely high humidity. It's been stifling in the last few days, not even fun to do work in the yard. Seems we went (again) directly from winter to summer, and there's no end to the HHH's in sight so far.

Only took a few short rides in my car this weekend... was too worried about it pouring rain out at some point (which it's always threatening to do).

I went to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith on Friday night with my friend Dan, and I loved the movie. It had a lot of action, and was hilarious at the same time. Of course, I love Angelina Jolie, so that didn't detract from me liking the movie *LOL*.

Other than that, the weekend was pretty uneventful.

This week promises to be quite busy.. so I hope it flies by.

Hey Bob, please know I was just teasing you bud!

Does anyone think they'll find this missing girl in Aruba alive? I don't. I'm also extremely upset that there was only (varying reports, some say 7, others say 10) chaperones for over 100 kids! That, and the fact that they were allowed to party at Carlos and Charlies till 1:30am or later. Good grief... what were these people thinking!

My dad's not doing so well. Seems he's lost so much weight, the metal plate in his jaw is now sticking through the skin. He's got to go back to the Oncologist's this week because the oral surgeon believes the cancer may be back *sigh*.

On to the news:

Nicole Richie to offer elephant rides at her wedding. In response, ex-galpal, Paris Hilton, will let guests at her wedding ride her

For those of you who want a little head....

and that's it for today... enjoy your day.

TGIF... once more!

Man this was a long week for some reason! Seems like it took a month to get through!

Hey Trucker Bob, no disrespect, but 95% of the links are to crazy Americans, why can't there be 5% crazy Canadiens??? Hmmmm feeling a bit touchy are we? *LOL*
If I didn't put any up there, you'd be yakking at me that I was biased against the Canucks... so it's a lose-lose situation!
BTW, I was doing Canadien stories long before you came for our resident Canadien, Carrie! *S*

Tonight, I'll be going to dinner and a movie with a buddy of mine, Dan. Probably going to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Looks like it'll be pretty good.

Other than that, no big plans for the weekend.

The pills the doctor gave me don't seem to be working *groan*. Still having pain when I sit down for a while, then go to stand. Once I walk a bit, it's totally gone. It's the transition that's the problem. I hate this...

Oh well, you don't want to hear my gripes... so here's the news:

Find your favorite computer based radio station online!

Asshat gets his fourth DUI after running over his friend while bonded out on his third DUI

Donald Duck turns 71 today. Let's all chip in and buy him some pants

Mother lets 11-year-old son drive to school. Hilarity ensues

And of course, My BOTD!

Oh ok... One more!

Have a great weekend all...!

Getting closer to the weekend....

This has been a LONG week for some reason.

Well, I went to the doctors yesterday who says I strained a muscle in my back (better that than a pinched nerve) so he has me on a muscle relaxant and told me to take it easy. So, I'm not going to overdo it.. but I can't just sit on my hands!
Hopefully, by the end of the day, I'll start seeing some results.

Well, I took Aaron for a ride in the Vette yesterday, and I think he was impressed. Hey, I'M impressed with the ride. This car has the best seats I've ever ridden in, in any car. Some of the guys in work got to take a look at it too, and all loved it.
I just recently found out, there's a Corvette Museum in Vermont, not too far away. Maybe a road trip is on the horizon. (I'd have gone there even if I didn't have one)

Yeah Trucker Bob, you got me in trouble again bud.. *LOL* (just kidding)

Well, I just got my coffee (iced coffee this time of year), and all is good. I'm the first one in work, so I make a pot of coffee, and it's ready by 7am. Add a bit of Irish Cream, creamer to it... and life is good!

Karen's on vacation... hope she has a great time.

With that, I'm going to leave you all with a great joke, then the news:

The Birthday Present

A wife decides to take her husband to a strip club for his birthday.

They arrive at the club and the doorman says, "Hey, Dave! How ya doin'?"

His wife is puzzled and asks if he's been to this club before.

"Oh, no," says Dave. "He's on my bowling team."

When they are seated, a waitress asks Dave if he'd like his usual and brings over a Budweiser.

His wife is becoming increasingly uncomfortable and says,"How did she know that you drink Budweiser?"

"She's in the Ladies' Bowling League, honey. We share lanes with them."

A stripper then comes over to their table, throws her arms around Dave, and says "Hi Davey. Want your usual table dance, big boy?"

Dave's wife, now furious, grabs her purse and storms out of the club.

Dave follows and spots her getting into a cab. Before she can slam the door, he jumps in beside her. He tries desperately to explain how the stripper must have mistaken him for someone else, but his wife is having none of it. She is screaming at him at the top of her lungs, calling him every name in the book.

The cabby turns his head and says, "Looks like you picked up a real bitch tonight, Dave."

From Winter to Summer...

It's odd. This year, just like last year, we went straight from late winter, directly to summer. One day, it's high 50's at the most, the next, it's 90's and very humid. What ever happened to spring????

Well, I've had a sore back now for over a week. Might be from the stress of getting the new car, I'm not sure, but last night it took a turn for the worse and started spasming on me (is that a word?). The last time this happened, the doctor gave me some good anti-inflammatory pills and that did the trick. I'm trying to make an appointment this afternoon to see him. Damn it's tough getting old! *chuckling*

Yep, I took my new toy to work today... so many people wanted to see it, and it's going to be a 100% rain-free day.. so this looked to be the day.

I'm curious about some of the comments yesterday about "male bonding". Don't women sometimes like to get together with their female friends just to talk? Why is there a negative connocation by some women to "male bonding"? Curiouser and curiouser.

Well, I need to walk around a bit to ease this back, so here's the news:

CVS introduces disposable digital camcorder for homemade pr0n on a budget

Girl dresses "goth" for school project, tries to get job at Abercrombie and Fitch, gets cold shoulder. In other news, books still being judged by covers

That's it for now... enjoy your day!

Another day in the life...

To answer some questions from yesterdays comments:

Bob, I have no clue... maybe she just doesn't like seeing me happy. That's all me, my kids and other relatives can figure.

Mike, true enough.. then why do they put heaters and heated mirrors in them too? *LOL*

michelle, thanks... you're always so sweet! *S*

Now, if I could just get over a nasty backache that I've had for the past week.. ~frown~

Trucker Bob had a great post yesterday about how women just don't understand "male bonding" kinda things. Going out drinking with a buddy is one of them.
There are times, that men just have to be with men. We don't "chit-chat" like women do, we just come right out and say it. "Man, is she in a mood this week. Seems like she's PMS'ing for 3 weeks before, and 3 weeks afterwards!"
Or sports talk that women just most times, don't understand. Sometimes, a guy's just got to speak to a guy about it. You say "sports things" to most women, and they give you that "deer in the headlights" look. It's pretty sad.
Most women also won't go to the bar and do shots of Tequila with you. Heck, Dave, or Aaron jump at the chance to do a few shots of Tequila, and they don't worry about how they'll feel later. They KNOW how they'll feel later. Good.

Just a few insights to "Male Bonding". More another day.

And on to the news:

In "Top Gun," the pilots had cool call signs like Maverick, Ice Man and Viper. In reality, pilots are usually given much worse names, like Shrek, Yoda, Shamu or Buick

Angelina Jolie embarrassed after realizing that she wasn't wearing underwear beneath her rubber dominatrix outfit while filming a movie scene
Ok, this is a problem why? Help me here.

What a weekend.....

Weather-wise, it was the most perfect weekend. Sun shining, warm temps.. it was perfect.

First of all, thanks for all your kind words from Saturday's post! *S*

You have no idea how nervous I was driving my new car home from where I bought it. It was about a 70+ mile drive, and on the way home, one of the highways was stop and go. Here I was, worrying at every stop and go *laughing at myself*. Finally, I hit a different highway that was smooth sailing. I was so excited.
I got home, showed the wife and she immediately says she "hates the color". I'm having a hard time getting her to come for a ride JUST because of the color. *frown* Can you see my balloon bursting from where you are?
She finally agrees, and we go for a short ride. We go to her mom's house as she needed something we had at home and her mom loves the car.
Saturday, I got up and went out with Sarah (my daughter) and bought some soap and a new thick soft mitt for washing the Vette, and did just that (washed it). I took my daughter for a nice ride, and she adores the car. I'll let her try driving it at some point, as I will my son, but only with me in the car *L*.
At this point, the wife's going out of her way to complain about the color.. making me feel worse and worse till I finally told her to stop. I didn't want to hear about it ANY more. It's like she hates seeing me happy. I was on cloud 9 plus, and this was sucking all my happiness from it. Think of it. Driving along later, we see another yellow vette, this one a convertible, and she says "another idiot".
At home, I ordered some of the very special wax that the people before me put on it (it does an incredible job).

Moving right along, Saturday night, my friend Ray who owns this Cobra replica, decided to take our cars to the local car show. So, grudgingly, my wife goes because his wife does. Don't you know... some (excuse my language) fucking idiot kid spills soda on my car????? Luckily, I was prepared with things to wash/wipe it off. Otherwise, it was a great time and we had fun (at least I did).

Sunday, I took my brother for a nice ride for bringing me to get the car. Then, I went over to Ray's house for a few, gave him a ride, over to Dave's house, gave him a ride.. *L* starting to sound familiar? I wasn't complaining! I loved driving this car!
Wife and I took a long ride in the afternoon... it was so beautiful out, and she behaved for once, and when we got home, I took my son for a ride. Surprisingly, when I asked if he wanted to drive it, he said... "No, not right now". He wants me to enjoyh it first. There IS a nice kid in there! *LOL* Just kidding.

So, this morning, I have VWS. (Vette Withdrawal Symptoms) *L*

And on to the news of the day:

My Baby's Home!

Yep, picked up the Vette yesterday after 2.5 hours at the DMV (because of others, not me), and here's the first pic of me in it!

I washed it this morning (not that it really needed it badly), and took the top off and took a nice ride with my daughter.

Hope you're all having a great weekend like I am!

For once, I'm thanking the weatherman for rain!

Well, it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I moved up picking up my Corvette to today! My brother's going to take me down there and to the DMV, so I'll actually have the car this afternoon!!! *S*

Not much time this morning... I'll hope to have other pics of the car on Monday.

On to the news:

Hey Aaron, here's someone in the running for a Darwin Award!

Another day of sunshine....!

Since this past weekend, the weather's changed for the better. Supposed to be great all the way through the weekend (just in time for my new toy).
Thanks in advance to Aaron, who's going to cart me down to pick it up and to the DMV to register it. Between Ray, Dave and Aaron, I have three fantastic friends close by... I'm very fortunate.

Not to forget, thank you all for your kind words in yesterday's comments (especially Paula, the wallflower that never posts! *S*)
Everything went great yesterday.. went to the bank to take out the very small loan I need, then called the insurance company that made me an insurance card right away (need one in CT to register a car), and I'm glad I checked it when I got home, as it was beginning coverage on the 7th, not the 4th as I had asked. I'd have been really pissed showing up at the DMV and finding out I couldn't register it because of that mistake!

So, I gots me an email from Bubba yesterday, stating that he's been busy, and he attached a picture of hisself and his son at the beach. While his son resembles "normal", I was almost BLINDED by the incredible whiteness of his skin in the picture! Damn man... you could blind a man with that kind of skin! Don't you get out? *LOL* At first, I thought he had a white sheet over his body... sheesh!

Keep your fingers crossed that this week FLIES by for me!

And now, the news:

Dutch suspected to vote "no" to EU constitution because they fear losing hookers and drugs

Aaron, we are DEFINITELY in the wrong business!
Greatest job in the world: City pays "private investigator" $100 per hour to visit strip clubs and buy lap dances with taxpayers' money!

Now, in news of the truely bizzare:
Mother upset when son claims he licked teacher's toe in exchange for candy. It also doesn't help that the teacher signed son's yearbook, "Good luck next year. Don't lick anyone else's toes"

And my best of the day:
If you're drinking beer bongs with your wife, don't get into an argument about her gambling habits, unless you're confident your pickup truck can float. With pictorial proof!

Enjoy your day!

Guess what?????

When I got home last night, I knew I had to call the people about the Corvette to make an offer. I was SO nervous, I was shaking. My daughter thought it was hilarious, but it was the weirdest thing to me. I've never been nervous about buying a car.
So, at about 5:45, I called their house, and the wife answered (her car, but hadn't spoken to her yet). She was very nice, and I pointed out that the Kelley's Blue Book, NADA and Edmunds had rated the car a bit less than they were asking. We talked for a minute before I just blurted out my offer, and she said "Well, it IS my car, but I have to clear it with Paul (husband), and he's out, so I'll call him on his cell, but I think that figure will work". So, here I am, cautiously happy.. waiting for her to call back. 10 minutes, 15 minutes.. I figure, the longer, the worst it could be. 25 minutes later she calls and says "It's a deal"!
So, I'm the proud owner of this gorgeous Corvette.
Here's another pic of it.

Last night, I called a buddy of mine at a car dealer, got the paperwork I need (bill of sale, registration paper), and he ran a CarFax for me (came out perfectly clean).

Today, I'm taking a half day off to go talk to the bank. I barely slept last night I was so excited! *S* Hopefully, I'll pick up the car on Saturday.

On to the news!
